Hello Room 107 Families,
It was so great seeing you all at Parent-Teacher conferences this week! It was great talking to and showing you all the amazing lessons your child is learning.
What Did We Learn About This Week?
This week we have been learning about the letter T. We practiced making the letter T with Play-Doh, wikki stix, and dry erase boards. We talked about the sound T makes and wrote about things that start with letter T in our writing journals.
We also talked about healthy eating. During Work Time, the students looked through newspapers and cut out different types of food. We talked about if the food was healthy or unhealthy. We also explored healthy eating through literature by reading, “The Very Hungry Caterpillar.” As we read the book, we talked about the different types of food the caterpillar ate and how it helped him turn into a beautiful butterfly.

Hello Room 107 Families,
We had such a fun week of learning! This week, we learned about letter H. We practiced making the letter H with wiki sticks. As we made the letter, we practiced making the letter sound H makes. Furthermore, we wrote about things that start with letter H in our writing journals (examples: hat, hippo, hamburger, house, and more!)
We also started learning motion and movement by exploring roller coasters. First, we read a book about roller coasters. We read, “Roller Coaster,” by Marla Frazee:

As the students read the book, they talked about what roller coasters need (example: tracks, tunnels, roller coaster trains, etc.).
The students pretended to ride a roller coaster by pretending to ride Koo Koo Kangaroo’s roller coaster.
The students made a blueprint to build a roller coaster. They worked together during Writing Time and drew a plan to build a roller coaster. They included tracks, tunnels, and a roller coaster train.
Last, it was time to build a roller coaster! The students looked at their blueprints during Small Group and followed it to make their roller coasters!

What we learned about this week!
The preschoolers had a fun filled week of learning. This past week we were learning all about pumpkins. We had the students pick out their pumpkins from our school garden. The students investigated pumpkins by looking at the different sizes and shapes. We even looked inside and saw that the pumpkins have pulp and lots of seeds.

We learned about the letter Ee this week. Talk to your child about words that begin with e. We have three friends in our classroom whose name begins with E.
Fun weekend activity idea
Are you looking for a fun activity this weekend? Go outside for a nature walk. Look at the leaves on the trees! Ask your child to tell you what they see. This helps to build their oral language skills.

At our Parent Meeting, we talked about Social-Emotional Development. We talked about what Social-Emotional Development is, as well as strategies to help your child with their development at home. - Sequence/sparkles
- Beads
We are looking forward to the next Parent Meeting on Thursday, January 13.
