To those of you fasting… keep it up! And all of you have a blessed weekend 💛
I will be sitting here ready and willing to answers any questions, by email or phone!
What is a foot long and slippery?
A slipper!
Have a great day, team!
During this time, I will be at my computer responding to your emails. If you have questions on a assignment, about grades, missing work, or anything else, shoot me an email and I will respond as soon as possible!
If you or your parent would like to talk to me on the phone call, email me and include the phone number I should call.
What does Alexander the Great and Winnie the Pooh have in common?
Their middle names
What is brown and sticky?
A stick!
Hi all!
For those of you fasting, happy Ramadan! Hopefully the hardest days are behind you! Pretty soon you’ll find a routine and it won’t be quite so uncomfortable 🙂
I have some sad news… we won’t be doing video chats this week. As you might already know, the school district has suspended Google Meet and teachers and students are not allowed to use it for check ins anymore. They are trying to figure out another way for us to video conference, but as of this week, in this class we will have no chats. I will miss your faces and voices!! 😭😩
Because there isn’t anymore chats as a class, I have added more Office Hours for this week!
This week, my Office Hours are:
During this time, I will be at my computer responding to your emails. If you or your parent would like to talk to me on the phone call, email me and include your phone number.
Keep in mind, I am usually by my computer, and I quickly respond to emails throughout the week. So if you email me not during Office Hours, you will still hear back from me within an hour to two.
Here is the 7th grade assignment schedule for this week!
Remember how Athenians and Spartans teamed up to defeat the Persians?
Many of you made predictions that the two city-states would continue to get along, and you were partially right. After the Persian Wars, Athens and Sparta did not fight each other, and Athens began to have a Golden Age (which we talked about last week).
However, within a few decades, things became tense between Athens and Sparta again, and they eventually went to war: the Peloponnesian War!
After the Peloponnesian War, both city-states were weakened and neither Sparta or Athens would ever be as powerful as they were before the war. Another consequence of the war was that Greece as a whole became very vulnerable, and easier to conquer… and that’s exactly what happened!
This week’s assignment has two parts:
For each part you will watch a video and answer some questions. As always, when watching the video, make sure to:
This video will help with Part 1:
And this video will help you with Part 2!
And as a lovely summary of both Parts, this music video will be good review 🙂
Good luck getting this song out of your head! DUE Friday at midnight! MAKE SURE TO CLICK “SUBMIT”
Have a great day, team!
What is the tallest building in the world?
The library because it has so many stories!
Hey yall. Just a reminder that I am available from 2-3:30 today for Office Hours (I added an extra 30 minutes). I will be right beside my computer, responding to emails quickly.
If you would like to video chat or a phone call, email me to let me know. We can review the assignment, clarify any information, discuss grades.. whatever you need!
I am also available at other times throughout the week, you just need to make an appointment to chat ahead of time.
Hope I hear from some of you soon!
– 1st: 10:00 am
– 3rd: 10:30 am
– 4th & 5th: 12:30 pm
– 6th: 1 pm
Similar to last week, I will post a link to a Google Meet on Google Classroom 5 minutes before the chat starts. It will last for 20-25 minutes and it is NOT required.
Our agenda is simple. We will check in with each other, talk about the assignment, tell a couple jokes, and make sure we’re all doing okay.
Troubleshooting:
Last week there were several students who, when they clicked the video-chat link, it said “invalid”. This most often happens if you’re clicking the link when you’re NOT logged into your school email. If you forward your emails to a personal account, and in your personal email try to click the link, it won’t work.
Make sure to be logged into your “@dearbornschools.org” account when you click the videochat link!
If you’re logged in and it is still not working, then you can also use the end of the link as the meet “code.”
Example:
Let’s say this is the link for your videochat: “https://meet.google.com/lookup/thisisaexample”
Email me, of course, if you’re still having trouble. I might not be able to respond right away if I am in the middle of a chat, but I will respond to you after and try to figure it out with you.
Hope to see you soon!
I will be at my computer responding to your emails. If you or your parents would like a phone call, email me and include the phone number I should call. If you would like a Google meet, email me for the Meet code.
I will be waiting for emails at my computer like this:
Hopefully I will hear from some of you soon!
Why doesn’t anyone like paper?
Because it is tearable! (Hahaha, get it, terrible??)
Hi yall, welcome to Monday!
Below is this week’s calendar for all 7th grade assignments:
On the calendar you will see a column for teachers’ “Office Hours”. During our Office Hours, we have devoted that specific time to be responding to emails, making phone calls and meeting with students and parents on videochat. Think of Office Hours as a guaranteed time to contact teachers and get an immediate response.
This week, my Office Hours are:
During this time, I will be at my computer responding to your emails. If you or your parent would like to talk to me on the phone call, email me and include your phone number. If you would like a Google meet, email me for the Meet code.
Keep in mind, I am usually by my computer, and I quickly respond to emails throughout the week. So reach out anytime and you will hear back from me within an hour to two.
Here is the schedule for videochat this week:

– 3rd: 10:30 am
– 4th & 5th: 12:30 pm
– 6th: 1 pm

In case you didn’t know…the Greeks won the Persian Wars!! Even though the Greeks won, the city of Athens had still been burned to the ground. Despite this, Greece entered a Golden Age where many parts of Greek life and culture improved and flourished.
For this assignment, you’ll read a paragraph about five parts of Greek culture. After you read, you’ll answer the questions in the right column.
KEEP IN MIND: I care about what YOU think, not what Google says. Keep your answers in your own words and use your own thoughts.
This is posted on Google Classroom, and needs to be submitted by Friday at midnight!
Here is the grading scale for this assignment:
Summary:
Tuesday 2-3 Office Hours
Wednesday Video Chat
1st: 10:00 am
3rd: 10:30 am
4th & 5th: 12:30 pm
6th: 1 pm
Thursday 2-3 Office Hours
Friday midnight: assignment due
CHEERS TEAM!
1) Why do we tell actors to “break a leg”?
Because every play needs a cast!
2) Why can’t dinosaurs clap?
Because they’re dead… duh!
These jokes are from yall during our video chats yesterday! 😂 Keep them coming during our chat next week!
It was INCREDIBLE seeing/hearing some of you yesterday! I felt so lucky to be able to joke and laugh with a handful of you. I know some other teachers also had their video chats at the same time as our class, so next week we will find a time when there isn’t any conflicts.
These video chats are not required. But they make me happy and are a great way for us to check base with each other. So if you CAN make it, please join! I will post next week’s video chat schedule on Monday, but we will likely meetup on Wednesday of next week!
Reminder: the Persian Wars assignment is due TONIGHT at midnight on Google Classroom. You must click “Submit” for me to be able to grade it!
The grading scale is below:
And remember, if you are unable to complete work because of problems outside of your control, these assignments will not be held against you and your grade. Just let me know!
