Be sure to check your email for the latest update. Here is a copy of what it says:

Happy Sunday Crew members,

I hope that you had a lovely long weekend and enjoyed your time with family and friends.

For the next three weeks we will continue to work hard and accomplish MUCH before the winter holiday break.

Please be aware that daily schedules are posted on the blog and also in Schoology for all stakeholders to view. Grades and assignments can be viewed in Schoology.

A number of students have still not submitted their learning plans. Parents, I reviewed this with all of you at conferences. Please check in with your child on their intended plan for success.

Beginning 2021 all assignments will time out every night. This means that late assignments will be deducted late points, and assignments will be locked after one week’s time. We are nearly halfway through 5th grade and it’s imperative that we work towards the preparation of all the responsibility middle school will require.

Going forward the afternoon learning labs will be required and no longer drop in. During this time, we will complete reading group activities. Attendance is required during your specific time. Please set an alarm for your specific time if you need extra reminders. See the picture on the iblog or in Schoology for more details. Please keep in mind that we have not yet been given a time for STEM. That will be forthcoming. What’s Coming this week:

-This week students will have 4 math lessons/4 zearn lessons, and a quiz on Friday

-We are continuing to work on our research paper where students have to RESEARCH CREDIBLE SOURCES to find information on their chosen amendment and how it pertains specifically to VOTING RIGHTS IN THE UNITED STATES. Students should have completed a skeleton (rough bones) graphic organizer organizing their 5 paragraphs. The three body paragraphs are divided into the following:

  • Body Paragraph #1- preliminary development of the voting right (before)
  • Body Paragraph #2 – how it was adopted and put into action (during)
  • Body Paragraph #3 – any issues that arose AFTER the law was put into effect.

-The next ELA Benchmark assessment is Friday

-The usual science quiz will occur Wednesday – OPEN NOTE! Last week’s extra credit has been added to the previous Science quiz grade (for those students who did the experiment). Reminder, you should be reviewing recorded lessons/videos for science and taking NOTES before completing any exit ticket or quiz.

-For the next three weeks, students will begin an individual project on explorers working steadily to complete and present on prior to our break. The weekly social studies quiz is Thursday again – OPEN NOTE! Reminder, you should be reviewing recorded lessons/videos for social studies and taking NOTES before completing any exit ticket or quiz.

As always I appreciate the transparency and teamwork that goes into Virtual Learning. Parents and family members are the eyes and ears at home filling the void of the traditional classroom. You are SO appreciated for all the support!

Together in Teaching,

Mrs. Kronk
