PEEK AT THE WEEK

  • Our core vocab word of the week was “jump”
  • We practiced using the word “jump” in many ways. The children took turns jumping on the trampoline while the rest of the students told them to “jump, jump”, we danced to following direction songs that had us jumping, and we made stuffed animals jump over classroom objects
  • Our letter of the week was “J”
  • We practiced the letter “J” by reading an interactive book and searching through our bean bin for objects that start with the letter “J,” we did a jelly bean bingo sheet, and sang letter “J” song
  • The children painted with green and red at the easel and we used their painting to make elf outfits for a project we hung in the hall
  • Staci and Mrs. Gallery came in for group therapy and we made gingerbread play-dough. The students helped measure the ingredients and mix them all together, then we rolled out the dough and cut it up with plastic knives
  • We practiced counting, number recognition, and subtraction with the poem and cookie sheet activity “Along Come Mr. Scarecrow”
  • We read Ten Apples Up on Top and stacked ten Legos as the characters added apples to their heads in the story
  • The students practiced sorting by colors and type
  • They worked on 1:1 correspondence by placing objects into divided containers
  • We worked on building stamina during Daily 5 read to self time
  • The children practiced identifying the first letters of their names during morning attendance and with our classroom book
  • We had find motor Friday and practiced our fine motor skills with puzzles, pegs, and button tasks

PEEK AT THE WEEK 

  • Our core vocab word of the week was “in”
  • We practiced using the word “in” in many ways. The children put all sorts of things “in” this week including, buttons, pegs, 3D shapes, and bean bags after they put something in a jar or basket we practiced saying “It is in!”
  • Our letter of the week was “I”
  • We practiced the letter “I” by reading an interactive book and searching through our bean bin for objects that start with the letter “I,” we did an igloo bingo sheet, and sang letter “I” song
  • We sang and put together Mat Man with Ms. Staci. Mat Man helps us learn our body parts
  • We read many Thanksgiving books including “Bear Says Thanks” and “Turkey Trouble”
  • The class made a graph of Thanksgiving foods they’d like to try
  • The students learned all about different vehicles and ways to move! We read a book and practiced making vehicle noises (vroom, beep-beep, toot-toot), sorted vehicles by where they move (water, land, air) and finished sentences about where we would like to go
  • We made a turkey craft and practiced our gluing skills as well as fall color recognition

PEEK AT THE WEEK

  • Our core vocab word of the week was “help”
  • We practiced using the word “help” in many ways. The children asked for help when using scissors and gluing letter “H” pictures down, they also asked for help blowing bubbles, and help taking their lunch shirt off
  • Our letter of the week was “H”
  • We practiced the letter “H” by reading an interactive book and searching through our bean bin for objects that start with the letter “H,” we did a heart bingo sheet and sang letter “H” songs
  • The children practiced counting, number recognition, and one to one correspondence with the story Five Little Turkeys
  • We read Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? and practiced matching colors
  • We reading an interactive color story about the color green then colored a green coloring sheet with crayons, makers, and bingo dabbers
  • The children listened to the story There was an Old Lady who Swallowed Some Leaves and fed our old lady prop pictures of objects in the story

PEEK AT THE WEEK

  • Our core vocab word of the week was “go”
  • We practiced using the word “go” in many ways. The children cheered their friends on saying “Go ____, go!” we made cars go, and we talked about places we go at school (gym, art, music, playground)
  • Our letter of the week was “G”
  • We practiced the letter “G” by reading an interactive book and searching through our bean bin for objects that start with the letter “G,” we did a gumball bingo sheet and sang letter “G” songs
  • The children worked on identifying the first letter of their name during morning attendance and while we read our name book during story time
  • We had group therapy and read Five Silly Ghosts then made our very own ghost craft
  • We went trick or treating at ASC the kids had so much fun dressing up and see all the adults dressed up while passing out candy. We practiced signing thank you to everyone who help fill our special bags Ms. Diane made for us
  • The children listened to the story “Going on a Leaf Hunt”
  • The students painted at the easel. We are going to use their paintings to make a class turkey to hang in the hallway outside out room

PEEK AT THE WEEK

  • We celebrate Mohamed’s 5th birthday! Happy birthday Mohamed!!
  • Our core vocab word of the week was “finish”
  • We practiced using the word “finish” in many ways. The children told me when they were finished coloring, eating, and completing classroom tasks
  • Our letter of the week was “F”
  • We practiced the letter “F” by reading an interactive book and searching through our bean bin for objects that start with the letter “F,” we did a fish bingo sheet and sang letter “F” songs
  • We read “Go Away Big Green Monster” and sang along with the song on the iPad
  • The students practiced counting, number recognition, and 1:1 correspondence with the story “I See Spiders”
  • We read the story “Five Little Monkeys Trick or Treat” and then the students chose which costume from the story they would like to dress up as for Halloween.  We graphed the results and discuss more and less
  • The children read an interactive color story about the color orange and then used orange crayons, markers, and bingo markers to color their orange sheet
  • We conducted a science experiment to see which type of candy would sink or float in water. The students made their predictions before we took turns putting different candy in cups of water
