PEEK AT THE WEEK
- Our core vocab word of the week was “jump”
- We practiced using the word “jump” in many ways. The children took turns jumping on the trampoline while the rest of the students told them to “jump, jump”, we danced to following direction songs that had us jumping, and we made stuffed animals jump over classroom objects
- Our letter of the week was “J”
- We practiced the letter “J” by reading an interactive book and searching through our bean bin for objects that start with the letter “J,” we did a jelly bean bingo sheet, and sang letter “J” song
- The children painted with green and red at the easel and we used their painting to make elf outfits for a project we hung in the hall
- Staci and Mrs. Gallery came in for group therapy and we made gingerbread play-dough. The students helped measure the ingredients and mix them all together, then we rolled out the dough and cut it up with plastic knives
- We practiced counting, number recognition, and subtraction with the poem and cookie sheet activity “Along Come Mr. Scarecrow”
- We read Ten Apples Up on Top and stacked ten Legos as the characters added apples to their heads in the story
- The students practiced sorting by colors and type
- They worked on 1:1 correspondence by placing objects into divided containers
- We worked on building stamina during Daily 5 read to self time
- The children practiced identifying the first letters of their names during morning attendance and with our classroom book
- We had find motor Friday and practiced our fine motor skills with puzzles, pegs, and button tasks
