Field Trip February 26

Dear Parents: All of the second graders will be attending a field trip to The Detroit Science Center on Friday, February 26. There will be more details to follow, as well as a permission slip. I just was informing you ahead of time in case any of you would like to be a chaperone. The required background check to be a chaperone needs to be on file in our school office. I would love to have about 4 chaperones for this trip. Please let me know through email, note, or by phone if you are interested, and have the paperwork completed and on file. Thank you!

Math Test/ Valentine Party

Dear Parents:

The Unit 5 Math Test will be on Wednesday, February 3rd. The study guide will be sent home today. Please help your child prepare for this test. The Valentine Party will be on Thursday, February 11th in the afternoon. There will be a sign up sheet sent home today if you would like to sign up to bring food or drinks to share with the class. There are 24 students in the class.  There will also be a class list of names so that students may pass Valentine cards to the class. Students do not have to pass cards, but if they choose to, they must give one to each person in the class. Students do not need to write student last names on the cards, just first names. Thank you!!

Supplies for School

Dear Parents: I am so thankful to all of you for so generously sharing supplies with our classroom! At this time, we are in great need of kleenex tissue, copy paper, pencils, and dry erase markers. I do give Hoot tickets to students who bring in supplies from home. Thank you so much for all your support!

NWEA Testing

Dear Parents:

The last day of NWEA testing will be Friday, January 22. Please make sure that students have an extra snack that day, and are well rested. Please also make sure that they go on the NWEA practice site for Reading every day. Thank you!

NWEA TESTING

Dear Parents:

This week the students completed the Math portion of NWEA testing. The children all worked very hard, and we are noticing some wonderful progress in their scores! Please continue to have them go on the Reading practice for NWEA at home. Using the practice site has really made a difference in their scores. We will begin testing for Reading on Tuesday of next week. Have a great long weekend!

Science Quiz

Hello. There will be a short Science Quiz on Friday, January 8. The students will be asked to draw and label the water cycle. Please use the reading and study guide that I am sending home to help them prepare.

NWEA testing will begin on Monday, January 11. Please make sure students eat breakfast and get plenty of sleep. Please also make sure that they are going to the NWEA practice site. Thank you!

Happy New Year!

Dear Parents,

I wanted to wish all of you a warm welcome back, and a Happy 2016! I would like to thank all of you for the wonderful and thoughtful Holiday gifts. They all meant so much to me. Remember to help your child to go on the NWEA practice site every day at home because we will be taking the Winter NWEA starting next week. Thank you!

This Week

Remember that the Science Test about plants will be on Friday in the morning. Please review the study guide.  Our Winter Party will also be on Friday in the afternoon. We have 24 students in our class, and thank you to all of you who signed up to bring a snack or drink. Have a very wonderful, relaxing Winter Break, and I will see you in 2016!!

Testing Next Week

Hello. There will be two important tests next week. The math test will be on Tues., Dec. 15, and the students should continue to study the study guide. There will also be a Science test on Fri., Dec. 18 in the morning, so as to not interfere with the party. There will be a study guide coming home today. The Science study guide should be read, and important parts highlighted. There is a quiz at the end of it. Please help students with this, and it must be returned on Mon. Dec. 14, so we can check it. Thank you!
