Reading Bags/Zearn Pass Code

Dear Parents:

Today I will be sending home Student Reading Bags and Reading Logs. The Reading Logs must be filled out and signed daily. Students should be reading at least 20 minutes a day, including weekends. The Reading Logs are in their folders. Please keep these at home until filled. When full, the students can turn it in to earn a patch tag, and then begin a new one. The Reading Bags must be brought back and forth from school to home every day. Many, many students have dropped many Reading Levels over the Summer, and we need to get back on track.

The Zearn Pass Code is written on today’s date in the planner, and is: MN9Q9P. Please also go on Zearn every day for Math practice. Thank you for your help.

Mrs. Kowalski Week of 9/9-9/13

Dear Parents:

Today will be the first day of Homework. The students will be writing the homework assignments in their planners daily. They must bring their folders/planners back and forth from school to home every day. I will mostly be assigning a Math Sheet, Reading, and Studying Spelling Words every day. There will be a Spelling Test every Friday, and other Spelling activities due each Friday. These Spelling activities called TIC TAC TOE, will be due every Friday, but I have students work on them in school. If they don’t finish the activities by Thursday, then they will have to finish them as homework. I will send the first Math Homework sheet, and the first Spelling List today. The first Spelling List is: has, sat, will, fix, him, bad, if, six, wag, had. Thank you for your help!

Don’t forget Open House on Thursday, Sept. 12 at 6:00!

Mrs. Kowalski 2nd Grade

Dear Parents:

Welcome to my Blog. I will print my Blog the first few times, but please try to subscribe to my Blog as soon as possible, so that you can receive my announcements through your email.

Our Special Class schedule has just been finalized. Many people are asking about Gym Day in order to have correct shoes. Our Gym Day is Monday, so please have students wear Gym shoes and comfortable clothing every Monday.

Students may bring a treat to share with the class on their birthday, but I would prefer no cupcakes, because of the messiness. Many students enjoy goodie bags. (We have 23 students.) I will also be having several class parties throughout the school year, and I will send home a sign up sheet when it is time to participate in those.

Once a week, I will be choosing a Student of the Week demonstrating excellent behavior and good work. Please send in a picture of your child from home, so that I can post it for the Star Student Board.

Homework and Spelling will begin next week. The students will be bringing home a homework planner with their assignments written in it each day.

If you wish to contact me for any reason, please email me at kowalsm@dearbornschools.org or call Haigh School at 313-827-6200. Thank you so much! I am looking forward to seeing all of you at Open House on Thursday, September 12, at 6:00.
