Tomorrow Math Test, Monday Field Trip

Hello. There will be a math test on fractions tomorrow. The study guide will be coming home today for students to study. The test is very easy this time, and students are already well prepared.

The field trip to Dearborn Historical Museum is on Monday. Students will be back in class before lunch time. The chaperones that have volunteered must meet us at the museum. Thank you!

Week of 3/21- 3/25

Dear Parents: There will not be a Spelling test this week because of no school on Friday. We will be just reviewing old words, or sight words this week.

On Thursday, I will be celebrating a reward with the students that they earned with me for good behavior. Please have them bring in a towel or blanket, and they may have a stuffed animal with them too.

Another quick note… Students may bring in recess items to play with from home, since I will be giving them a longer recess that day. Thank you!

Week of 3/7-3/11

Hello, Parents!

As many of you know, I was quite ill with the flu last week. Thank you for your support and understanding. Due to my absence, I did not give a spelling list or Tic Tac Toe last week. The students and I worked on spelling review words and sight words together in class.

The Book Fair will be this week. Our turn to visit the Book Fair is tomorrow (Tues.), but the students will be allowed to visit the Book Fair any time this week. Thank you!

Math Test and Field Trip

Dear Parents: There will be a Unit 6 Math Test on Thursday, February 25 in the morning. The completed study guide has already been sent home, but I will also be sending double digit adding homework so that the children can practice. Please also remember that the field trip to The Detroit Science Center will be on Friday, February 26. There will be a note with more details about the trip coming home soon. Thank you!

Valentine Party

Remember that the Valentine party will be in the afternoon on Thurs. Feb. 11. Please remember to send in the food or drinks that you have signed up for, and thank you for volunteering to do so. Also, the students may pass their Valentine cards on that day. Thank you!

Last Night’s Math Homework

Dear Parents: I apologize for the homework assignment last night for Math. The problems were written very small, and when I printed it, I was unable to enlarge it. Also, there were too many problems on the page, and I should have made it more clear in my directions that I did not expect students to complete all the problems. So sorry for the inconvenience and misunderstanding. We worked in class to check the math problems that had been completed, and each child was able to have a turn to solve these independently. Thank you!

Field Trip February 26

Dear Parents: All of the second graders will be attending a field trip to The Detroit Science Center on Friday, February 26. There will be more details to follow, as well as a permission slip. I just was informing you ahead of time in case any of you would like to be a chaperone. The required background check to be a chaperone needs to be on file in our school office. I would love to have about 4 chaperones for this trip. Please let me know through email, note, or by phone if you are interested, and have the paperwork completed and on file. Thank you!

Math Test/ Valentine Party

Dear Parents:

The Unit 5 Math Test will be on Wednesday, February 3rd. The study guide will be sent home today. Please help your child prepare for this test. The Valentine Party will be on Thursday, February 11th in the afternoon. There will be a sign up sheet sent home today if you would like to sign up to bring food or drinks to share with the class. There are 24 students in the class.  There will also be a class list of names so that students may pass Valentine cards to the class. Students do not have to pass cards, but if they choose to, they must give one to each person in the class. Students do not need to write student last names on the cards, just first names. Thank you!!

Supplies for School

Dear Parents: I am so thankful to all of you for so generously sharing supplies with our classroom! At this time, we are in great need of kleenex tissue, copy paper, pencils, and dry erase markers. I do give Hoot tickets to students who bring in supplies from home. Thank you so much for all your support!
