Math Test and Winter Party

Dear Parents: A reminder that the Math Test will be on Friday, December 16. Please continue to review the study guide with your child. Also, the Winter Party will be on Friday, December 23, and a sign up sheet was sent home if you would like to share a snack, drink, or paper products with the class. We have 26 children in the class. Thank you!

Math Test

Dear Parents:

I decided to change the date of the Unit 4 Math Test to next Friday, 12/16/16 because the students need more practice on some of the concepts. Please continue to review the study guide with them at home. Thank you!

Animal Projects

Dear Parents:

An Animal Project Assignment was given to students yesterday. All of the requirements for students to complete are on that paper. Please help your child to work on this project for Science. The project should be on a poster board. It is due the day before the Winter Vacation. Students will present their projects to the class when we return from vacation. Parents will be invited to watch your child’s presentation on an assigned day. Thank you!!

Week of 12/5-12/9

Dear Parents: The Unit 4 Study Guide was sent home yesterday (Monday). Please help your child study for the test, because it is a very difficult one this time. The test will be on Thursday of this week, unless students are having difficulty with the material, then I will move the test to next week. Thank you!

Week of 11/21-11/22

Dear Parents:

Please remember that we have a short week this week, and tomorrow is our last day before Thanksgiving Vacation. There will be no Spelling this week because of that.

Please have your child read during every day of the vacation, and please have them practice on the NWEA practice site.

Most of you already know, but the directions for the NWEA practice site are as follows:

  1. Go to dearbornschools.org home page.
  2. Go to Resources, then to Students.
  3. On the left go to NWEA Rit Practice.
  4. Choose Math or Reading. If Reading go to MAP Reading Practice, if Math, go to Kindergarten-2nd Grade, and choose an area of Math to work on. There are no passwords necessary to do this. Thank you!

Week of Nov. 7-11

Dear Parents: Please remember that there is no school tomorrow, Nov. 8 due to Election Day. Also, the first day of conferences will be Thurs. Nov. 10. Please check your scheduled date and time for conferences.

There will be a Math test on Friday, Nov. 11. The study guide will be sent home today. Please help your child to study for the test. Thank you!

Week of Oct. 31-Nov. 4

Dear Parents: Thank you to all chaperones who helped on our field trip yesterday! It was a great success! Thank you to all parents who sent in a snack to share with the class for our Halloween Party last Friday. The students really enjoyed the celebration.

There will not be a Spelling Test or Tic Tac Toe this week because of the field trip yesterday, and because of the half day this Friday.

Conference reminder notes will be coming home soon, and your conference day/time will be on them to remind you. Thank you!

Week of October 24th

Dear Parents:

My apologies to any parents that may have attended the Parent Meeting at the wrong time. Packets were sent home last week, in case you missed the meeting. A reminder that the Halloween Parade will be Friday, Oct. 28th at 9:30, and the Halloween Party will be in the afternoon that same day. Students should wear their costumes all day that day. I do not need parent helpers for the party, but parents may come to watch the parade at 9:30. If you signed up to bring in a treat for the party, we have 24 students.

Our field trip will be all day on Mon., Oct. 31. If you are a chaperone, please make sure that your background check is on file in the office.

We will have the Unit 2 Math test on Thurs., Oct.27. Please help your child to prepare for the test by reviewing the study guide that was given. Thank you!

Halloween Party

Dear Parents:

There will be a Halloween Party in class on Friday, October 28 in the afternoon. We are celebrating on this day instead of October 31, because of our Field Trip on October 31. If students have costumes, they should wear them on Friday October 28, and they will keep them on all day. Students will be marching in a Halloween Parade beginning at about 9:30 that day. There will be a sign up sheet for the Halloween Party if you would like to bring in an item to share with the class. I will not need any parent helpers at the party. Students will pass their own items, and watch a movie. Please consider signing up for a healthy item, such as fruit, cheese, or vegetables, rather than so many sweets. I will also need plates, napkins, cups, and drinks. Thank you!
