Week of 3/1

Dear Parents: This week will continue to be ZOOM in the morning, and In Person Learning Labs in the afternoon during assigned days and times. I will be giving students an orientation for the Hybrid Model during their Learning Labs this week, and our Hybrid Model for grades 3-5 will begin for 2 days next week on Monday/Tuesday (3/8, 3/9). Please make sure students have water bottles when they come for in person instruction from now on, and any other school supplies, such as Reading bags, crayons, markers, colored pencils, highlighters, pencils, and notebooks. Thank you.

Please help us keep our community & staff safe by following our precautionary measures & directions.

Remote learner meal kits will be provided every Thursday to support learning the following week. Let us know how many meal kits you need and please list out your students’ names and ID numbers at check out. If you do not wish to receive the full 5 breakfasts and 5 lunches for the week, please let us know at pick up and we will make adjustments to your kits.

Learning Labs This Week

Dear Parents: Learning Labs will be in person this week on Monday (2/22), Tuesday (2/23), and Thursday (2/25). Please have your child attend their group at their given dates and times in person at school. Our Drop off/Pick up location is at the basketball area of the playground. On Friday, February 26, I have a vaccination appointment, so I will not be holding Zoom classes or Learning Labs that day. All lessons for students can be found in the Friday Folder of Schoology for that day. Thank you always for your cooperation. Please email, text, or call with any questions.

Fever? (100.4º F or greater) Cough?  

Shortness of breath? Difficulty breathing? Loss of smell or taste?

Parents and guardians, use this checklist every day before sending  your children to school.  

If you answer “YES” to one or more questions, you must keep your child  home from school today. 

Does your child have any new, unusual, or worsening symptoms  as listed in Box One and Box Two below? 

Box 2 

Vomiting or diarrhea? 

Headache?  

Sore throat?  

Runny nose and/or congestion? 

Body aches and/or tiredness? 

Does your child have at least 1 of these symptoms?  YES NO 

Does your child have at least 2 of these symptoms?  YES NO 

If the answer to any of the questions above is “yes”, keep your child home and consult your primary care physician.  If a doctor determines that the symptoms are due to another diagnosis, or COVID-19 is ruled out, your child may return to  school after being fever-free for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medications.

In the last 10 days, has your child been identified as a close contact of anyone who has had   a positive COVID-19 diagnostic test? 

If the answer to this questions is “yes”, your child must stay home to quarantine for at least 10 days from the last  exposure to the close contact unless symptoms appear (see section above regarding symptoms in Box 1 and Box 2.

Announcements

Dear Parents: A reminder that tomorrow (2/11) is a Vaccination Day for teachers, so there will be no Zoom lessons or Learning Labs tomorrow. Students have assignments to work on in Schoology. Friday and Monday (2/12, 2/15) there will be no school due to Winter Break. Tuesday (2/16) will be another day of no Zoom lessons and no Learning Labs. Teachers will be preparing schedules/classrooms for the return of in person Learning Labs. Wednesday (2/17) will be a Zoom and regular Learning Labs day. Beginning 2/18, Learning Labs will be in person. I will be informing you of your schedule.The groups will be the same, but longer. (1 hour) Thank you so much for your patience!

Dear Parents: This is a reminder that this Thursday, 2/11 is set aside as a Teacher Vaccination Day. Therefore, I will not be holding Zoom classes or Learning Labs that day. I have put into Schoology, in the Thursday Folder what I would like the students to work on independently for that day. Also a reminder that there will be no school on Friday, 2/12 or Monday, 2/15 due to the Winter Break. Thank you.

In preparation for the Hybrid Model, I wanted to share out the google document below that provides registration information for Kids Club and Childcare. As mentioned in my video yesterday, I am hoping to let families know within the next week if they are an “A-Family(in person on Monday and Thursday)” or a “B-Family(in person on Tuesday and Friday). I know that this will help with planning ahead for your families. Please see the linked document below that will provide some background information on these 2 programs.

Dear Parents: Remember that tomorrow 2/2/21 (Tues.) will be a Pass Out Day for 3rd Grade Students from 1:00-3:30 PM at the basketball court area of the playground. Families must come pick up books to begin new units of instruction. Please also return any books that belong to Mrs. Nardone if your child attends her groups. There will be no Learning Labs on Tuesday afternoon due to this Pass Out Day. Thank you.
