Newsletter for June 5-9, 2023

I would like to start by saying, I am sorry for not posting last week. I think I got taken away with the 4 day weekend. My mind just took a vacation. I will finish up the year strong.

Book Bags, Classroom Books, AND Library Books

Please send all classroom books, library books, and book bags. I am collecting them for the year. We are still reading. I am using classroom anthologies and my classroom library books.

We had fun this week by redesigning the playground on O day. We sat outside and drew/wrote our designs in our journals. Picnic day was lovely. We spread out our blankets and had snacks under the trees. Unfortunately, I gave myself a blue and purple eye while spreading out blankets. Whoa! The kids came prepared with their questions for quiz the teacher day. I think I passed with a 95%.

  • Monday, June 6th – Staff v 5th grade Kickball Game
  • Thursday, June 8th – Field Day

ELA

We are almost finished with the Unit 10 Benchmark.

  • READING
    • We are reading our benchmark and anthologies.
  • WRITING
    • We are learning how to write a “How to…” paper. We wrote how to make a PB and J sandwich last week. Then we buddied up with Ms. Krawczyk’s class to make a sandwich using our instructions. (We used sun butter to be allergen safe.)
  • SPELLING
    • We finished spelling tests, but I will have a spelling bee during the last week of school. I also use the words to test what your child can read from our old lists. I will send the lists home for summer practice.

MATH

We are almost finished with Module 4. We do, we will start Module 6. Module 6 is a review from the year. Also, it has extensions of concepts. If we do not finish, I will send the book home for summer math learning.

SCIENCE

We finished our units on light and sound. Now we are extending our science learning with Mystery Science lessons.

Thank you for your support.
