I hope you are prepared for another busy week here in preschool! We have many fun activities happening this week along with quite a bit of learning! We are continuing to become independent in the classroom by serving ourselves snacks, cleaning up after ourselves (during work time, outside time, after rest time) and becoming an active member in the classroom by following rules and procedures and helping our friends.
What We Are Learning…
Colors-

Gray
Please review colors learned by finding them in your home (on clothing, boxes, in books) or while out at the store or even playing outside (red, blue, yellow, green, purple, orange, brown, black)
Names-
We are learning to recognize our names, the letters in our name and the order in which the letters go. Please practice on recognizing the letters in your child’s name and the order in which they go (Rajaa- R-a-j-a-a).
Reminders-
Please dress your child for the weather as we go out to recess two times a day (morning and afternoon).
Thursday October 17 at 8:00 am, we will have our Mandatory October Parent Meeting. This meeting will be about literacy. Please make sure you bring your child to school with you.
Please remember to leave your child’s locker open when you drop them off in the morning. We access our lockers throughout the day so it is important that your child can get into his or her locker.
We are beginning to adjust to school and the daily routine. We have been extremely busy learning the ropes of the classroom and what is expected during out time at school.
We have been following our daily routine and are beginning to understand what comes next. We wash our hands and can choose to eat breakfast when we come in. After breakfast we go to the carpet for large group and greeting time and during this time we count, sing songs and dance. When we finish large group we participate in small group where we work on a variety of activities- learning the areas of the classroom, practicing certain skills (cutting, drawing, sorting, patterning and counting). Then we head into work time which is where we can choose what we would like to engage in and which areas of the classroom we would like to play in. We have the house area, block area, cutting table, art area, play-doh area and carpet/ work area. We have lots of things we can do in the carpet/ work area- build with legos, large magnet-tiles, unifix cubes, puzzles, jungle animals and loop and learn. Then we work on writing after work time. Once we finish all the learning, we get to go outside and play. Then we eat lunch and have rest time. After rest time we can choose to have snack and play on the carpet until it’s time to go outside again. Then we get to go home! We are very busy every day!
This week we are learning…
