Week of March 27- 31

Hello Families!  Things have been extremely busy in preschool as we heading toward the end of preschool.  Although it is still a couple months away, the time has been flying and the end will be here before we know it.  We have been learning so many new things and staying busy every day.  This week we are finishing up the letters of the alphabet and beginning to work on numbers.  Please continue to practice at home with your child each day.

This Week We are Learning…

Letters:

Yy- Yetta Yo-yo

Zz- Zelda Zebra

Shapes:

Please review the shapes learned over the last several weeks.  Have your child identify and name the shapes in your home, outside, and in magazines/ books/ junk mail, practice drawing the shapes and counting the sides/ corners.  The shapes learned are circle, square, triangle, rectangle, diamond, oval, pentagon and hexagon.

Numbers:

We started numbers last week and the children learned zero- 0 and one- 1.  At home with your child, practice counting out the number of objects (crackers, cereal, toys, socks, etc), practice writing the number and recognizing the number (in print on books/ signs/ boxes of food).

Hello Families!

I hope you had a wonderful and restful break with your families!  I heard the weather was beautiful so I hope you took advantage of it and spent some time outside!  We are back to our routine finishing up February and heading into spring!  Here is what we are working on this week.

This Week We are Learning…

Letters:

Please continue to review all the previously learned letters by having your child write the letters (both upper and lowercase), finding the letters in reading on boxes or while out running errands.

Shapes:

Diamond

Please review the other shapes that have been taught; circle, square, rectangle, oval, triangle and pentagon

Reminders:

We have a field trip to the library on Wednesday March 1.  This is a regular day of school for the students.

Kindergarten Round- Up- Kindergarten Round- Up will be held on Friday March 31 from 8:10- 9:10 at Salina Elementary.

I am not sure how the weeks have slipped by and I haven’t kept up on our posts!  I apologize for missing the last two weeks but I share everything we have learned on this post.  We have a busy week, plus our Parent Meeting on Thursday.  Please remember that attendance is required at our Monthly Parent Meetings.

REMINDER:

We have our mandatory February Parent Meeting Thursday at 8:00am.  Please be on time since we need to get started right away.  You will be doing an activity with your child and then we will be welcoming a speaker, Dentist to our classroom.

Week of January 23- 27

Dear Parents,

I hope you have been able to enjoy our unusually warm weather for January.  I know I have taken advantage of the days and spent some time walking outside.  It has been a nice change to get some fresh air and not freezing while doing so.  We have been busy this week and will continue to be for the next several weeks while continuing to learn new concepts.  Please continue to practice previous and new letters at home and names.  We are beginning shapes this week as well.

Please review letters Ll, Ff, Ee, Hh, Tt, Ii, Uu, Cc.  Have your child practice writing letters at home in both upper and lowercase.

You and your child can find these shapes in your house, outside or in books!  Have fun looking for shapes by going on a shape hunt.  You can also have your child practice making the shapes with play-doh or drawing them out.

Names:

Please continue to work with your child on writing his or her name.  The more they practice the better they will become!

Hello Parents!

I hope you were able to enjoy the snow day with your children!  I did not expect to have a snow day but it came as a wonderful surprise and allowed me to get some much needed things done around my house.  This week is a short one but super busy.  Please continue to work with your children at home on everything we are working on in class.

Week of December 5- 9

Dear Parents,

We are off on another busy journey as we begin letters along with introducing shapes and numbers.  We continue to work on our names each day learning our letters and how to spell our names.  Please continue to check your child’s backpack every day.  The December calendar has gone home so please make sure you have it.  There are events coming up in the next few weeks that you need to be aware of.  I will post reminders of the events as they get closer.

Names– We are continuing to learn the letters in our name, how to spell it in order and write it.

Letters– This week we are beginning letters.  We will learn 2 letters a week.  Please practice identifying the letters at home in books, on boxes, signs and junk mail.

Week of November 28- December 2

I hope everyone had an enjoyable and restful break with family and friends.  We are back to our busy schedule here at school and am looking forward to the next few weeks.  Please make sure you continue checking the blog and the board outside the classroom for updates about what we are learning, days off and parent meetings.  Thank you for your continued support inside and outside the classroom.

Week of November 14- 18

We have many new and exciting things happening this week in preschool.  It will be a busy week as we began our journey to learn the letters of the alphabet.  We will spend time reviewing the colors we have learned.  We will continue to focus on our names; recognizing our names and spelling out our names.  We will have parent-teacher conferences all day Thursday so there will not be preschool on November 17.  Please be sure to look at the conference reminder that goes home this week so you know when your meeting with the teacher is.

Wayne County Regional Enhancement Education Millage Proposal

 

School districts in Wayne County have placed a proposal on the November 8th ballot to provide added funding for our schools. It is the “Regional Enhancement Millage Proposal.”

If approved by the entire county, the 2 mil proposal will generate approximately $6.2 million from Dearborn but the District will receive $7.8 million in additional funding for our schools.  Money would go to local schools starting this year and the millage expires after six years.  Continue reading
