Today our focus was on drawing triangles and rectangles/squares with the same area. Our activity will be part of the ISN. On Thursday the students will take a test on the first Geometry standard. A study guide will go home on Tuesday.

Students will be quizzed on warm ups this Friday. Each day this week our warm up will be focused on a different operation with fractions. The quiz will be 12 questions.

Homework today was practicing multiplication with decimals. The students need to complete the first and second column tonight.

Today we added to our ISN notebooks with information about the area of triangles.
Homework : Finish last two rows of 3 digit multiplication times 2 digit multiplication.

Yesterday and today were ISN days in sixth grade math. We finished two pages reviewing decimals, and two pages reviewing the area of squares and rectangles. Homework was due today and homework was sent home tonight to be returned tomorrow.

We played an area game with dice and graph paper, practicing the area formula.

Next week MEAP starts!! I will be sending home a schedule so that you can know what days your student is taking the MEAP. All MEAP tests are given the first three hours of each MEAP day.

WE NEED TAPE! Just rolls of tape would be fantastic. We have many dispensers that are empty.

Students can each 1/2 point for each wrong answer on their quiz by completing three steps. The first step is to check their work and make corrections using the answer key attached to this post. They must return their checked quiz on Monday to qualify for steps two and three.

Today the class took their first quiz covering operations with fractions. They will get their quiz back tomorrow, and will have an opportunity to make quiz corrections over the weekend. More information to come!
Homework tonight is to bring a picture of themselves to class for a project tomorrow. Also, finishing the Operations with Decimals pages in their ISN.

Tomorrow is our first quiz of the year. Students should study their ISN’s and their homework from the last week. The quiz covers adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing fractions.

Today we reviewed addition of fractions with common and uncommon denominators.
Homework was highlighted rows of multiplication review.

Today we discussed the Interactive Student Notebook requirements and began personalizing them by designing covers. The covers should be finished over the weekend and ISN’s should come back on Monday so that we can tape them. They all are starting to look awesome!
