1ST GRADE
The 1st graders will log in to the computer and will go to my blog and click on Keyboard Zoo. They will use this fun and educational activity to learn the keyboard. They will use their pointer or index finger to match letters on the screen to their keyboards!
2ND & 3RD GRADES
Before going to Dance Mat Typing last week, I had the students learn the Parts of a Computer by watching a short video clip that introduced the keyboard, the monitor and the mouse. After they watched the video, they had to click on the correct part of the computer that was being described. Then, the students went to another website that tested their knowledge of the various parts of the keyboard (the mouse, the keyboard, the monitor, the speakers, etc.) Lastly, the students got to click on the link for Dance Mat Typing and try it. They didn’t have a lot of time for this so they are going to revisit this website again this week for about 15-20 minutes. Afterwards, they may go to any ‘letter’ game in abcya.com .
Content Objective: Students will practice their keyboarding skills.
Language Objective: Students will be able to log in to the computer using their school id number, locate my blog by the shortcut on the main screen to go to Dance Mat Typing Dance Mat Typing, they will type for about 15-20 minutes and then go to ABCYA and choose a word game. abcya.com or Starfall or FunBrain
