Work for Week of 3.30.20


Please continue to take care of yourself and your family. Also, please make sure you are sending me videos and pictures of the work that is being completed at home! I appreciate the many pictures and videos that I have received. I would like to receive a daily or every other day picture of work completed. I am also keeping track of time logged in on Freckle. You need to complete work in Reading/ELA and math on Freckle. If you need a Chromebook, please reach out to me immediately.

Letter T – Review the letter Tt, the sound it makes, some words that start with t and the correct way to make the letter. Remember all of the letters start at the top and go down.

-ot word family – Please focus on the -ot word family and the different words you can make when you change the beginning letter or letter blend.

1. The Cloud Book https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eS5uN0RuIHI Vocabulary Words: atmosphere, feathery Answer the following questions in your notebook/paper: How many types of clouds did you learn about in the book? What cloud type was your favorite and why did you like that one? Do you ever look up at the clouds in the sky and do they always look the same? If not, tell how they have been different?

2. Planting a Rainbow https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sti3PXBeVag Vocabulary Words: sprout, sow Answer the following questions in your notebook/paper: Did they really plant a rainbow? Why did it say that they planted a rainbow? What color flower did you like best in the book? What else is that color? Make a list of 10 other things that are that color.

Math – watch the math video for each day’s math lesson and complete the work in your notebook/paper or a dry erase board and take a picture for me.

Monday – https://embarc.online/mod/page/view.php?id=9679 Make a blank number sentence in your notebook/dry erase board and do it along with her ___ + ___ = [] Pause the video when she tells you to and fill in the number sentence and see if yours matches the videos. Then do the challenge at the end and send me a picture of your completed number sentence in your notebook/dry erase board. Then create your own number sentence for the number 8 with a matching picture.

Then do the challenge at the end and send me a picture of your completed number sentence in your notebook/dry erase board. Then create your own number sentence for the basketballs with a matching picture where you circle a part of the group.

Wednesday – https://embarc.online/mod/page/view.php?id=9682 As you watch the video, use your hand to start with 5 and then when you get 1 less, put one finger down to show you have 1 less. You can write the numbers in your notebook/whiteboard as you go through the video. Draw the pictures along with her as the problems are being done. Remember to just draw circles, not the actual pictures. Cross objects off as she does too. Then write the number of what is left. For the final challenge, draw 4 balloons and then listen or read what happens in the story and cross off how many balloons fly away. Send me the picture of this problem.

Writing

  1. Practice writing your new sight words and then write them in a sentence.
  2. Practice writing your spelling words and then write them in a sentence.
  3. Listen to the stories above and then answer the questions that were listed under each story.
  4. Read a book. Answer one or two of the following questions: a. Who were the characters in the story? Was there one main character? Did all the characters get along? What character did you like or not like? Why did you like or dislike them? b. What was the setting of the story? Did you enjoy the setting? What did you like about it? Have you ever been in that setting in your life? c. I want you to continue writing what would happen next in the story? It can be anything you like, so use your imagination and write, write, write!
  5. Do a weekend write. Use the new sight word funny. Write about something funny you did or saw over the weekend!
  6. Listen to stories online. Then draw a picture of a part you liked in the story. Then write about why you liked that part and what you drew. Make sure to tell why you liked that part by giving some reasons and using the word because in your sentences.

Brain Breaks / Movement Videos

Remember it is very important that we are still moving and exercising at home. It is important to take breaks while you are working at home just like we did at school. Here are some favorite ones that we did in school!

Again, please keep all your work together in a notebook or papers all kept together. You can send me pictures via the blog, email or on remind.

Here is the link to the packet from last week. If you didn’t print it out last week, you are welcome to print it out now and work on it little by little following the given schedule. Please do not complete it all in one or two days.

Please Stay Indoors

Hello Families!

I am sharing a message from Mr. Bazzi about staying indoors during this time! I hope you are doing well and all my littles are bringing light to your days like they did mine! Hug your children for me, I really do miss our days together. I will be updating tomorrow with some more lessons to keep those young minds learning and engaged. Food Mobile Pantry– Tuesday, March 31 2020 Mobile Pantry The Food Mobile Program provides nutritious, healthy food for 300 families. The mobile pantry includes 30 lbs. of fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains and lean protein. Breakfast/Lunches Available

Dearborn Public Schools is offering free pickup lunch and breakfast for students while school is closed for the mandatory shut down over the next few weeks.

Families will be able to stop in and pick up a bag with both breakfast and lunch for each child in the family.  Pickups will run Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to noon at Fordson, Edsel Ford, Dearborn high school, McCollough-Unis, Salina Intermediate, and Woodworth Middle School.

Mondays, students will receive breakfast and lunch for Monday and Tuesday.

Wednesdays, students will receive breakfast and lunch for Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Fridays, students will receive breakfast and lunch for Friday Saturday and Sunday.
