Mr. Kerr's 8th & 7th Grade Science

There is a VERY short 10 question science quiz tomorrow on the vocabulary in the interactive notebook and on the word wall in the back of room. Also, the Kahoot! link from the previous post will prove to be helpful.

We are doing NWEA testing tomorrow and Wednesday (Thursday if necessary) in social studies. This is the Language portion to help those teachers out. We also will have a short quiz either Thursday or Friday on Chapter 1. The Study Guide was posted last week along with the Kahoot! That too will be helpful.

Tomorrow is Picture Day and Friday is a half-day.

Open House is this Wednesday at 5:30-7:30 PM.

Picture Day is next Tuesday (17th) & half-day next Friday (20th).

We will be having two quizzes next week a science one on Tuesday and a social studies one on Thursday or Friday (depending on what we get done). A GREAT RESOURCE is always students Interactive Notebooks!

The testing window for NWEA is open till September 30th, many teachers have been already doing that. There is NO Science or Social Studies NWEA test, but Social Studies teachers assist in administering the Language part. I am doing that next week.

I hope everyone had a fantastic and enjoyable Labor Day weekend. It is our second week of school and many teachers have gone over rules, polices, procedures and expectations. I know I have, most of last week was concentrated on this. We even had 7th grade assembly on Friday with Mr. Denison about what the standard is for Bryant Middle school. It is the start of the school year so not only lets put our best foot forward academically, but behaviorally as well and be the best you that you can be. Thank you and see you next week on September 11th for the Parent Orientation/Open House.

Welcome back and I hope everyone had themselves a wonderful and safe summer break. It’s going to an exciting new school year for sure. If you have not heard I have moved up to 7th grade this year. So for some students you will be having me again. I will be teaching science and social studies again and am in room #46 (Mr. Blake’s old room).

The First Day of School is Monday August 26th it is a 12:00 Dismissal (half-day).

I hope everyone has a nice five day weekend and enjoyed their time off.

We had our field trip to the DISC today.

Geography test on government is Monday along with a science test on weather & climate. There is a Kahoot! for the government test it is on the previous blog entry; however, the science test will be an open note test and here is the power point.  It will be made available while students are taking the test as well.  This is our last chapter in the 6th grade science curriculum so it has to be done.

Talent Show is tonight and will be on Wednesday at school.

Levagood Field Trip is on the 13th.

Last Day of School is June 14th and a half day.

No School next Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday because Ramadan.

I also need permission slips and money for Levagood and the Ice Skating by this Thursday.
