  • We’ve got check-out tomorrow. Don’t forget your library books! Also, remember to wear your gym shoes!
  • Friday is a NO SCHOOL day for kindergarten students.

Good evening,

  • Tomorrow 11/15 is a LATE START day for all students. 9:30AM start time.
  • This Friday 11/17 is a NO SCHOOL day for kindergarten students only.
  • It was brought to my attention that 11/21 (our 50th day celebration) is also picture retake day. Students who are having retakes may bring a change of clothes if you don’t want them wearing their 50s attire in the picture.

Good night! Mrs. Coleman

50th Day of School!

We will celebrate the 50th Day on Tuesday, November 21, 2017. (Day 50 is actually this Thursday.)

For girls: poodle skirts (full skirts), button-up sweater, bobby socks, ponytail or

Capri pants, button up sweater, bobby socks, pony tails, ribbon in hair

For boys: rolled up jeans, white t-shirts, leather jackets, and slicked back hair.

Good afternoon!

Students have put Mrs. Potato Head back together again! We took a vote this morning and elected to have Stuffed Animal Show and Tell on Monday. Please send a special stuffed animal to school with your child. We will share our friends with the class after lunch.

NOTES/REMINDERS:

  • In Social Studies we have been talking about rights and responsibilities. We have identified Not Doing Homework as a Classroom Problem. For every problem, there is a solution. Students whose homework is not complete will need to use the first 5 minutes of their recess to complete the missing assignment. The will still have time to play/socialize.
  • Next Friday, November 17 is a NO SCHOOL day for kindergarten students.
  • If you plan to order your child’s artwork, please arrange for payment to be sent to school by Monday. I believe you can also order online.

Have a great weekend! Mrs. Coleman

Parent-Teacher-Student Conferences

Good afternoon!

This Thursday marks the first day of Parent-Teacher-and yes, STUDENT Conferences. Students are not only welcome, but encouraged to attend their conferences. Each student will take the first 5 minutes of her/his conference to share their Leadership Binder as well as a Self-Evaluation piece.

The remaining time will include information about Michigan’s Read by Third Grade legislation, NWEA data and what it all means, as well as Parental Involvement.

Conferences are limited to 15 min. each. Please understand that if you are late, your conference time will need to be cut short in order to maintain my schedule. As you can imagine, with 27 students, all of my slots are filled.

I’m looking forward to meeting with each of our kinder families over three nights.

Good afternoon!

  • We’ve got Gym on Monday. Don’t forget your gym shoes!
  • Today marks the end of the first card marking! Can you believe it??? We will have a new seating configuration, as well as new Leadership Roles on Monday. You might want to ask your child which role he/she is interesting in filling. I’ll ask again on Monday and have them complete a Leader Application.
  • NO SCHOOL on Tuesday, November 7.

Habit 4 is Think Win Win! On Monday, we will watch a quick video about this habit and discuss what it looks like, feels like, and sounds like. Have a great weekend!

Mrs. Coleman

Good evening!

  • HALF DAY TOMORROW! Dismissal is at 11:45AM. Please send a snack- we will not be going to lunch.
  • Students shared and practiced using their Counting Collections today. They had more than 45 min. to draw/color  their collection on a sheet of construction paper. Those who finished brought their project to me, counted to 30, and then a sentence stem was added as the final element. If your child came home with the poster it either means it was not finished, or he/she needed to practice counting and will have another opportunity to share it with me tomorrow.
  • Those who were absent on Tuesday missed the first reading of Stellaluna. Here is a video of the read aloud so that you can complete the assignments:
