I hope your families have had a wonderful Martin Luther King Day. Here are the activities in our classroom for the week.
Homework Posting
I am trying something new for posting what the homework is each week. Students learn what their homework is each day from a slideshow that I show at the end of the school day. I update this slideshow each day in case the homework changes from what I had planned.
From now on, I will link the homework slideshow in my weekly post. It will also always be available on the homework tab on this blog. This way, you will always receive the most up to date information about what homework is due.
Please see the link of details about this week’s homework: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1yR_GuZ_epevjYIT2nWt4mDfh2K-qE-zk8qBIM4DnrR4/edit?usp=sharing
NWEA Testing Dates
This Wednesday – NWEA reading test
This Thursday – Additional time for finishing NWEA reading test
This Friday – NWEA language test
ELA
ELA will primarily consist of NWEA testing this week. Students will turn in a final copy of their persuasive writing tomorrow.
Math
5th Grade Math
Students will learn how to do increasingly complex operations with fractions this week, including multiplication, story problems, and multi-step equations. Our goal is to get through lessons 8 through 11 of module 4.
4th Grade Math
This week, students will be focusing on strengthening their multiplication fact knowledge so that they can do division more efficiently. Our goal is to complete lessons 21 through 24 of module 3 this week.
Science
In science, we are beginning a new unit about the water cycle. I will post more details about it when we begin.
Science tests will be handed back this week and should be returned with a parent signature.
Social Studies
Fifth grade will be engaging with a new unit about colonization and settlement.
Fourth grade will begin the last few lessons in their unit about human geography. Information about a test that will be posted soon.
Spelling
Due to all the standardized testing we need to focus on this week, there will be no spelling test at the end of this week. Students WILL be given a spelling test based on their words last week (we did not get to this Friday).
