Happy Tuesday, all! I hope you had a wonderful long weekend as a family. I am wishing a belated Eid Mubarak to all of you that celebrated.

Timeline from Now to the End of the Year

The district has announced that there will be no new assignments our last week of school, the week of June 8th through June 11th. We WILL still have our live sessions that week (including a virtual end-of-year party!!!), but there will be nothing new that week to learn. Your students are SO close!

The next two weeks (up until June 5th) will be part of the grades I put on report cards, so please encourage your student to keep their focus. I want all your students to be successful, so let me know what I can do to support them! I am available for pep talks upon request 🙂

5th Grade Traditions: Memory Book Page and Speech Voting

Each 5th grader needs to fill out a memory book page about their time at Lindbergh. This is part of a special tradition where every student will receive a bound book of all the 5th grade memories. I will be explaining this assignment tomorrow at 12:45 on Big Blue Button, and I am posting the instructions sometime today.

Students need to turn in their speeches to me on Google Classroom TODAY if they want to be considered to give their speech at the promotion ceremony. We will do voting on the eligible speeches Thursday and Friday.

Progress Reports

I decided to combine last week’s and this week’s into one to avoid sending everyone a progress report right before the break. You will receive on this week for the last two weeks, and then you can expect one next week (our last week of assignments before report cards are due).

Math

4th graders should complete lessons 19, 20, and 21 on Zearn this week. This will be due Monday.

5th graders should complete lessons 10 and 11 on Zearn this week. This will be due Monday.

ELA

1- LIVE Reading lesson at 12:30 on Big Blue Button! The first five minutes will be socializing and we will begin promptly at 12:35. Students will answer discussion questions through speech and typing. There will be a make-up assignment or students who cannot attend the lesson live where they watch a recording and answer the discussion questions on a worksheet.

2- Read for 30 minutes.

Science

Students will complete lesson 5 of the web of life unit about how animals and plants interact. They need to watch the lesson and answer the discussion questions on Google Classroom. They will need to LOOK at the Big Fish Cards and Fish-o-Meter to answer the questions (tell them not to worry if they cannot print them. They just need to click on the files and view them on the computer).

EXTENSION: This lessons is an enhanced learning experience when students can play the game involved. I encourage you to print out all the files on the assignment and play the game if you can. The rules are on one of the print-outs. It will help them better understand the balance of CO2 that plants and animals create.

Music, PE, Art, and Science Enrichment

Students have weekly assignments for each of their special classes. Students can find these assignments on Google Classroom under the Classwork tab. These assignments are required and will factor into report card grades for those subjects.
