Math
5th Grade
Fifth graders are finishing their unit on fractions with a end of module test on Thursday. We will begin module six the following week.
4th Grade
Fourth graders are continuing to learn the math of lines, angles, and shapes. Students are practicing measuring angles with protractors this week. Students have a mid-module test NEXT MONDAY. The review sheet was handed out today and will be due Thursday to allow for review Thursday and Friday. Since students have less days at home to work on the review, I let them work on it in class and will tomorrow.
ELA
We are reaching the middle of our class read aloud book, Holes! We are doing work on this book related to describing characters, historical context, and point of view. Reading groups are continuing. Students launched into a new informational writing project today that they will be chipping away at for the next three weeks.
Social Studies
5th
Fifth graders will learn about the middle colonies, including the founding of Pennsylvania. Students will each be assigned a colony to write about for their informational writing project (see above).
4th
Fourth graders continue their study of the three branches of government. They will do their informational writing project (mentioned in ELA) on one of the branches of government.
Science
Students are doing an engineering project this week about how to prevent hurricane flooding. This is the last mystery in this unit. Next week they will complete a finalizing assignment and have their test the following week.
