Updates

Thank you to everyone who completed the Parent Input Form, I really appreciated your input and it helped me to prepare for the weeks to come. I created a document to track each student’s progress during this period of distance learning. I will be sharing this document with you via the email you used to sign up for ClassDojo. This will be a living document that I will update weekly. If you have any questions about this document or your student’s progress please email me so we can discuss it. I am looking for suitable alternatives for student hangouts as the district has ended student access to Google Hangouts due to safety concerns. I hope to have more information on this soon.

A few changes I wanted to mention regarding iBlog. Under the Specials page, I have added links to each of the specials teacher’s blogs. Under the Math page, I have linked resources for Module 6.

Finally,

Happy Ramadan and I hope you all have a wonderful week!

These are certainly unusual times were are living in and as the situation has evolved so have the plans for online learning (thank you for your flexibility). Please let me know how I can help you, what you feel is working, what’s not, ect.. I want to meet everyone’s needs the best I can!

Updates to Continued Learning Plan

Hi everyone!

I hope you are all doing well.

As you probably know by now Dearborn’s online learning plan was approved by the State of Michigan.

A lot of what we were already doing will stay the same however there will be a few changes to help us move from maintaining skills to implementing new content. I will be utilizing screencasting, video recordings of myself, and notes to introduce assignments and new content. All of this will be placed on Google Classroom for students to view and work on throughout the week at your convenience. I will be providing feedback for all assignments on Google Classroom.

At 8AM Monday on Google Classroom students will receive a weekly overview and access to the week’s assignments and new lessons. There will also be a daily announcement that includes a link to a Daily Check-In Form. Students should think of the Daily Check-In Form as their attendance for the day, this is also a great place for them to let me know if they have questions or something to share. As a parent, you will receive an invite to Google Classroom where you can set up to receive summaries of your student’s work, including missing work, upcoming work, and class activity.

Class Google Hangouts will take place on Fridays at 12 NOON. Invites will be sent through Google Classroom. This day/time may change based on the needs of the classroom.

Please continue to email me at Jinna@dearbornschools.org if you need anything! I will respond through email and we can always set up a hangout, chat, or call to meet your needs. I am here to help 🙂

Welcome Back

I hope everyone enjoyed their spring break! I really took this time to take a break from all the news and just enjoy being at home with my family, I hope you were able to do the same.

As we continue with distance learning I will be moving things from iBlog to google classroom. Students should have already received an invite to the google classroom page through their student email. If you are curious about what google classroom looks like please have your student sign in and show you. If you are having trouble accessing your student email please email me and I can help you out.

Below you will find a schedule and learning activities for the month of April. We will continue to use Zearn for math, ideally, 4 lessons per week but students should work at their own pace. Reading expectations have not changed from the first three weeks of distance learning. I am adding MobyMax to the mix, many other teachers have recommended this program which is leveled skills practice. To access MobyMax students should log in through Clever. Students should be familiar with Clever but if not email me. There are 2 projects for the month of April detailed instructions are posted in google classroom. I would like to continue hangouts with students once per week. It is a good way to keep our classroom community intact, dates and times will be posted on google classroom. Don’t forget to keep checking your specials teachers iBlogs I know they are continuing to post fun activities that you can do from home.

This has been a big change for all of us, I am so grateful to work with such wonderful students and families! I will continue to be here for you, please do not hesitate to let me know if there is any way I can support you.

Week 3 – Day 5

Good Morning!

I am sure you heard the announcement that school buildings in Michigan will be closed through the end of the school year and we will move to online learning. I will be meeting remotely with other school staff today and finding out what this will look like for our students. I will update you when I have more information. While nothing could replace being in the physical classroom each day, please know that I have been working hard on some creative alternatives in the event that the move to online learning was extended. We will observe our scheduled Spring Break and I will be in touch with plans and instructions on how we will move forward.

We will get through this!

Here is a look at Friday’s schedule:

Week 3 – Day 2

It was so nice to see so many of you yesterday on Google Hangouts. I hope you had a good time. Today is National Crayon Day, I hope you get the opportunity to color and draw! Just a reminder that the specials teachers have been posting activities to their iBlogs so check them out if you have some time (linked in a previous post).
