Co-taught Physics Unit 9 on Waves

Hope all is well!

Mrs. Bauman sent announcement from iLearn – office hours and online meetings will occur from the iLearn virtual platform.

Monday 11-12
Thursday 12 – 2

You can always send private comments in the Google Classroom assignments as well – so if you get stuck, please comment there and it will send me an email. When you comment back, it sends you an email and we will respond and offer support.

Stations Activity Due on March 27

Remember: Calculating Electrostatic Force

Force and Charge are Directly related meaning: If Force increases, Charge increases

If force decreases, charge decreases

Force and Distance are Inversely  (opposite) related: If force increases, the  square of the distance decreases.

Dr. Ismail’s co-taught physics classes

Hello,

Please work on the following assignment phet simulation

Coulomb’s Law Lab

We will use an online simulator for this lab.  Please Google “ Phet Coulomb’s Law Interactive” or use the following link:

https://phet.colorado.edu/sims/html/coulombs-law/latest/coulombs-law_en.html

For an introductory video about the lab, click here:  Intro Video  or in YouTube, the same video.  You can ignore the part about the calculator, as you are not doing that part.

Move the charges around and change the size of the charge using the sliders at the bottom.

  1. What happens to the force as you increase the charge?  (Does the force go up?  Down?)
  2. What happens to the force when you decrease the charge?
  3. Are Charge and Force DIRECTLY related (if one goes up so does the other) or INVERSELY related (if one goes up the other goes down)?  Explain.
  4. Now, pull the charges farther apart (leaving the charge the same).  What happens to the force?
  5. Now, put the charges closer together (leaving the charge the same).  What happens to the force?
  6. Are Distance and Force DIRECTLY related (if one goes up so does the other) or INVERSELY related (if one goes up the other goes down)?  Explain.
  7. Set both charges to a positive charge.  Which direction does the force go?
  8. Set both charges to a negative charge.  Which direction does the force go?
  9. Set one charge to a negative charge and one to a positive charge. Which direction does the force go?
  10. Look at questions 7 through 9.  Objects ATTRACT if the force goes towards the other object.  When do the charges attract
  11.   Look at questions 7 through 9.  Objects REPEL if the force goes away from the other object.  When do the charges repel?

Wayne County Regional Enhancement Education Millage Proposal

School districts in Wayne County have placed a proposal on the November 8th ballot to provide added funding for our schools. It is the “Regional Enhancement Millage Proposal.”

If approved by the entire county, the 2 mil proposal will generate approximately $6.2 million from Dearborn but the District will receive $7.8 million in additional funding for our schools.  Money would go to local schools starting this year and the millage expires after six years.  Continue reading »
