This is a reminder we will be having our Green Team meeting on Tuesday 2/3.

Reminder – Green Team Meeting Tomorrow 1/20

We will be working on our Green Public Service Announcements – please be ready with your scripts and reports.  Please have your lines practiced and ready to video tape.

Reminder – We will be meeting on Tuesday, January 6th, 2015 after school until 4:30.   We will be creating a Green Team bulletin board.  Please have a nice copy of their green article ready to be put up on the bulletin board.

Endangered Animal – We will be ordering our endangered animal soon. We had planned to help the dolphin and the cheetah for $25 each. However, they no longer send the stuffed animal for a $25 donation. You must send $55 to save one animal and also get a stuffed animal. So we need to decide if we would like to help 1 animal and get the stuffed animal or help two animals and not get the stuffed animal.  Below is a link to vote for your favorite option.

Meeting this Tuesday, 12/16 – We will be making our Public Service Announcements on iMovie.  Know your lines! and be ready for filming.

Green Team had the whole school vote on their favorite endangered animals.  The winning animals are the dolphin and cheetah.  We will be ordering them and they should arrive soon.  They will travel around to all the classrooms and then be displayed in the showcase.

Green Team meeting tomorrow 12/2 – meet in the Library

The Green Team will be working on making public service announcements for being green.  Each 4th/5th grader will be writing a persuasive essay on a green topic of their choice.  We will turn these essays in to scripts and begin filming on December 3rd.  We will make these into public service announcements to share with the rest of the school.

Green Team Meeting

Monday, November 3^rd after school in lunchroom until 4:30.

Expect to get dirty! More planting (bring a shovel) and beautifying our school.  We are also voting on which animals to adopt this year.

City Beautiful – The Howe School Junior Commissioners (Layla Chehab and Abraham Abdulkarim) were sworn in at our Annual City Beautiful Breakfast on 10/29.  They shook hands with the Mayor John B. O’Reilly, Jr and  got their picture take with the Mayor and the superintendent Mr. Brian Whiston.  Then they ate breakfast with Dr. Tynan and Mrs. Keebler and all the other schools in Dearborn.

Bake Sale Update – The bake sale today was a huge success!  We made over $170!  Thank you to all the families for all the donations of the yummy treats.  Thank you to the mom helpers who helped run the sale during lunch and after school: Thanks! Mrs. Chehab, Mrs. Bazzi, Mrs. Mackie, Mrs. Abdulkarim.   After the bake sale the Green Team talked about our plans for the rest of the year.

Congratulations, Junior Commissioners! – We have chosen our new Junior commissioner for the City Beautiful.   They will be join me and Dr. Tynan at the All School City Beautiful Breakfast.  They will be meeting and having their picture taken with the major.

Next Meeting – Our next meeting will  be on a Monday, November 3rd – Yes it is on  a Monday.  This will be the only Monday meeting of the year.

Please bring individually wrapped baked goods tomorrow.    Parent Helpers please arrive by 10:00 am for set up in the cafeteria or by 2:30 for set up after school.  Bake Schedule is attached.  We are going to limit sales to 2 items per child unless we have lots and lots.  We need a parent helper to help the students with the money and a parent helper to help keep the kids in a quiet line one class at a time.    Parent helpers please come to Mrs. Keebler’s room or Mrs. Schneider’s room to get set up directions.  Below is the schedule when each green team member is working.

Green Team bake sale schedule

We will have green team after the sale.  We will be making our plans for rest of the year.

Don’t forget our bake sale is this Tuesday.  We will start selling at the 1st lunch around 10:30-12:30 then we will start again at 2:55 and sell until 3:45 or when the food runs out.  Please send individually wrapped baked goods.  They can be dropped in the teacher’s lounge which is the small room in the cafeteria.  Parent helpers are still needed to help run the sale and keep the kids organized.
