All personal vehicles must be parked on the third floor of the Monteith Parking Structure, located next to the Campus support services building.
The parking fee has been waived for the academic year 2022-23.
A bus lane is available for loading/unloading directly in front of our building.
Click here for more information about parking on campus.
Please remind your students and chaperones about appropriate field trip behavior. The outdoor program site is a nature sanctuary and Environmental Study Area, so quiet group behavior is essential to a successful, focused, and non-disruptive program. Cell phones should be silenced and pocketed. No plants or animals are to be collected from the area. Smoking is not allowed on the UM-Dearborn campus.
We strongly recommend bringing and applying insect repellent for mosquitoes and ticks. The outdoor program site is known to have ticks, including Deer Ticks, the type that can carry Lyme Disease. As such, we recommend taking measures to prevent tick exposure, including applying insect repellent that repels ticks, wearing long pants, and staying on marked trails. For more information on Michigan ticks and tick prevention, click here.
The field trip will be on Tuesday 5/16. We will meet in the cafeteria at 3:35. Thank you to Mrs. Fakih and Mrs. Chehab for providing pizza and drinks. Students will eat pizza and have a drink, we need to drive to the Environmental Intraoperative Center by 4:15. Park in the structure and meet inside. Make sure your student has a ride.
I have 11 field trip permission slips for:
We need more forms to qualify for the DTE $150 grant. If we get 80% we can get the money for Green Team. This will help us do our spring planting and give us some money for our Rain Garden. Please turn in by Thursday. Even if you are not going to use the materials you can still turn in the form.
We had a great presentation from DTE. The Green Teamers learned all about energy and many ways to save energy and save money! Everyone went home with an energy savings kit. They will teach you all the ways to use the items in the kit to save money. Everyone got a Home Energy Worksheet (HEW). Please complete the Home Energy Worksheet and return it back by May 2nd. If it is fully completed by May 2nd then the students will be enter into a drawing, and 1 of the 12 students will get a $50 Amazon gift card. If I get 80% of the 12 HEW forms back then I will win a gift card.
I also sent the permission slip for our trip on May 16th to the U of M Environmental Interpretive Center. We will be learning about Michigan Watershed and get to do a fun pond exploration. Please return the permission slip by May 2nd. If I get a volunteer parent to buy pizza and watch the kids then we could eat a quick piece of pizza before we take off. We need to be there at 4:15. Please let me know if you can help out.
Our next meeting is May 2nd, weather permitting we will be planting flowers.
The kits have arrived! DTE will be coming on Tuesday 4/18 at 4 PM with lots of goodies to share! They will be helping us learn how to conserve energy and save money. Everyone will be going home with a kit, unless you opted out. I look forward to seeing everyone one Tuesday.
We will be doing a fun upcycle projects with crayons. We will need more time than usual this week. If your student can not stay until 5:30 please let them know what time you will need them to come out. They can meet you at the office door when you need them.
Wow! The Native American and Alternative Energy Fair was amazing! Everyone did an awesome job! I’m very proud of all of you! I got many compliments from parents, teachers, the principal and the superintendent. Thank you to everyone who was able to make it. I’m so happy that the superintendent took the time to come and actually interacted with our students and he said that he was very impressed that students were very knowledgeable about their topics. Here is a link to the pictures, if you have pictures to share feel free to add them to the album!
