Howe Green Team

We will meet in the Library.  Don’t forget to bring your final copies of your posters.

We will be meeting in the library.   We will be adopting an endangered animal and working on posters and speeches to try to increase recycling and reduce waste in our school.

Don’t forget Green Team on January 5th from 3:35 to 5:00 PM.  I will try to meet in the Art room.   I need all students to bring a personal size water bottle.  We will be making bird feeders.  If anyone has any extra water bottles please bring them in case someone forgets.

We are having an end of the year party with Pizza, Planting and Pick-up of our Nature area.  See you tomorrow!!!

We are having our Earth day celebration tomorrow.  We will be doing some Earth day clean up in our nature area and Hadi and Hiba will be bringing some Jello for snack.  If anyone else would like to bring some snacks to share we would appreciate it.

Our next Green Team meeting will be next Tuesday, April 21st.  We will be celebrating Earth Day by doing a campus clean up.  We will then come in and have an Earth day snack.

We will need donations of Earth day snacks.  If you would like to get creative and make a snack that looks like the Earth here are some Pintrest ideas that might be fun to make:  https://www.pinterest.com/kellylhardy/earth-day/  If you have an idea of a snack the kids could make, let me know.

Our next meeting in coming soon!  We will be meeting on Tuesday, March 3rd.   We will be planning our Earth Day Celebration in April,  investigating the possibility of planting a new tree at the school as part of our Earth Day Celebration, taking a nature walk to look at how animals use trees (if it is warm enough) and finishing our Public Service Announcements.

Writing Contest

As part of our Green School participation activities I would like us to participate in the Go Green Youth Challenge writing contest.  Each student should write a short essay (up to 350 words) on the topic:  If You Were a Tree, What Tree would You Be, and Why?  Read all about the contest and guidelines in the letter below.  I have also attached the entry form for the contest. There are PRIZES.  We must act quickly because the contest ends on March 9th! :
