Howe Green Team

I would like to have a table up during parent teacher conference.  We would like to:

• Raise awareness for National Recycling day on 11/15
• Have people sign the recycling pledge
• Sell bake goods, crayons and milkweed seeds, collect donations, start a can drive

Since I will doing parent teacher conferences so I will be have one or two parents who can be in charge.   Please email me at kkeeblek@dearbornschools.org if you are willing to help with this.   If I get 1-2 parents to take charge I will send out a sign up sheet to take shifts.  Please indicate which day or days you can help.  Conferences are November 8, 13 and 15th.

If you have any other ideas on ways to raise money for our butterfly garden or if you would like to help with the planning or planting of the butterfly garden please email me and let me know.

Thank you to everyone that donated baked goods, time and money to our sale.  We raise $120 at our bake sale!  Luna’s grandma took 20 milkweed seeds and 10 candles to try to sell.  If she is successful that will be another $50.

We voted to on our endangered animal to adopt.  We decided to adopt the Red Panda through the World Wildlife Fund.  This was a $55 donation.

The 100 packets of milkweed seeds cost $35.  If we can sell them all we will have $200 from those donations also.  We sold 8 seed packets at our sale.   If you would like to help sell milkweed seed packets in your neighborhood or work let me know.

I will bring the cart outside for the next couple of days to sell the left over treats and crayons.  If there is someone who would like to take it to the front door to sell the crayons to the younger kids one day let me know.  If you give me a couple of days notice we can have the lower elementary teacher make an announcement on their blogs.

For those of you who don’t know yet.  Green team is trying to raise money to build a Monarch Butterfly Way station or butterfly garden in the fenced in nature area on our property.  I could use some good gardeners for advice on planning our garden.  We need to create a budget of how much money we need to raise.

Next meeting is October 30th.

Our milkweed has finally arrive!  We will be having a Green Team sale on Tuesday 10-16 after school.  Parent helpers are needed to help set up and start the sale while I dismiss.    The Green Team will meet afterwards to update the bulletin board and choose our endangered animal to adopt.  We will be selling milkweed, crayons and baked goods.  Donations needed for baked goods.  Please email me at keeblek@dearbornschools.org to let me know you can help.

Hi Everyone,

We will be meeting this Tuesday from 3:35-5:00.  Please pick up at Mrs. Keebler’s classroom Room 124.  We will not be having our milkweed sale yet because the seeds have not arrived.  We will make signs and more recycle bins.  And learn about how the Monarch butterfly is threatened.

We will now usually be meeting the 1st and 3rd Tuesday.  However, in October we will meet the 1st and 5th Tuesday and not meet the 1st Tuesday in November because of no school.  Here are the dates:

Dear Parents,

For several reasons I will need to move the Green Team meetings from Thursdays to Tuesdays.

• I am the PTA representative this year and the meetings are on Thursday.
• Thursday is a busy grading day for my class for rewards on Friday.
• Honors choir is on Thursday

I apologize if Tuesdays don’t work for you and your child can no longer attend.  If your child was unable to make Thursdays but Tuesdays work the I still have a few open spots.  I will take kids until I reach 20 them I’m full.  We will be having a fundraiser soon.  We are going to be selling milkweed seeds to help save the Monarch butterflies.    My plan is to have the sale on October 2nd if the seeds arrive in time.  If not we might have the sale on a non-Green Team day.

We will normally meet the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month unless there is no school or a conflict.  This month I also plan on meeting on the 5th Tuesday, 10/30 since we will be unable to meet the 1st week in November since there is no school that day.

5/15 – Field trip to UM Dearborn Pond exploration.  Chaperones needed.

Weather permitting we will be planting and doing a grounds clean up.  Please dress appropriately and bring gardening gloves if you have any.
