One of our green team members had a home energy consultation.
Energy Audits- On Monday February 22, 2016 a Home Energy Consultation was performed at a green team members home along with her mother. The appointment was arranged on DTEs website and is completely free.
After the consultant surveyed the home he replaced all of the light bulbs with LED energy-efficient bulbs. He replaced the shower head with a detachable high efficiency shower head. After asking three questions we also qualified for a free WIFI thermostat which is programmable from a smart-phone. The consultant did recommend we check the DTE to schedule a Home Energy Audit with one of their contractors. Issues like cracks and gap in the foundation need to be filled in, in order to retain heat in the basement which will help with energy efficiency and costs. On March 1st a presentation will be made to the green team students and attending parents that they should schedule a Home Energy Consultation to find ways they can learn and begin to save money. She received about $400 in free energy saving devices.
