Philosophy of the Choral Program

All children should have the opportunity to experience the making of music. It is important to access these opportunities throughout one’s life. Music stimulates the mind, body, and emotions.

It advances attentiveness, creative skills, social skills, and self-recognition. Music also teaches us how to work with one another in a group while at the same time teaching us how to rely on ourselves. The appreciation of music contributes to a more meaningful and enjoyable life.

Objectives of Elementary Honors Choir

Knowledge:

  • Students will show a knowledge and understanding of the basic foundations of music in relation to its forms and styles, history, cultural role, and its theological implications.

Skills:

  • Students will be able to interpret musical notation and participate in vocal music-making, both in school and later on in life.

Attitude:

  • Students will develop artistic sensitivity, through musical experiences finding pleasure from music.
