This is our last couple of days for the 2019-2020 school year. Although our traditional classroom experience was interrupted with a pandemic, the first few months were wonderful. I will miss everyone and hope the best for the future. Enjoy your upcoming summer break!

We’re in our final two weeks of school and many students have done a wonderful job completing the required assignments. Students who did not have the opportunity to finish the assignments, will have the final weeks to do so. Therefore, our final weeks of school will be dedicated to students who need to make up any missing work and will have until June 8, 2020 to take advantage of this opportunity. There will not be any new assignments posted for students to complete.
I hope everyone enjoyed their long weekend break and had a wonderful Eid! This week we will continue reading The City of Ember. Our focus will be on chapters 14 and 15, along with a pre-reading and post-reading activity. The pre-reading activity includes a prediction/journal writing task and the post-reading activity focuses on types of conflict. I highly recommend that students read the text and listen to the audio, simultaneously, to help build comprehension. Each activity is worth 10 points and due Sunday, May 31, 2020. The assignment had been uploaded in Google Classroom.
There will be a scheduled day for students to pick up their personal belongings from school. The following link provides detailed information for the dates, times, and procedure. https://woodworth.dearbornschools.org/2020/05/21/student-personal-item-distribution-schedule/
Hope everyone is doing well and again, I would like to thank all the students who are turning their work in on time. This week we will continue with The City of Ember. Our focus will be on chapters 11, 12, and 13. Be sure to answer in complete sentences, provide details from story, and do a grammar/spellcheck before submitting. The assignment has been uploaded on Google Classroom and is due Sunday, May 24, 2020.

This week we will focus on chapters 8, 9, and 10 from The City of Ember. Students are to complete the pre-reading activity (2 paragraphs comparing and contrasting Ember’s problems with our current problems), comprehension questions for chapters 8, 9, and 10 (be sure to elaborate on the responses and complete a grammar/spellcheck), and the post activity (idioms). The assignment has been uploaded into Google Classroom and is due Sunday, May 17, 2020 and worth 50 points.
Hope everyone is doing well and in good health! This week’s assignments will focus on chapter 6 and 7 from The City of Ember. Students are to read and/or listen to the audio and answer comprehension questions. There’s also a pre-reading activity and post-reading activity for students to complete. The assignment is due Sunday, May 10, 2020. If there are any questions, students can reach me through email and I’ll respond during “normal” school hours.
Happy Ramadan! I hope everyone is doing well and in good health. We are in our third week of The City of Ember novel activities and this week we will focus on chapters 4 and 5.
