Farewell 3rd grade, Hello 4th grade

CONGRATULATIONS!! Parents on finishing your first online remote learning with your child(ren). This wasn’t easy for any of us especially our children. This has been an experience I know we will never forget. We are all done with report cards, please do not do anymore of the assignments on the template. You will find your child’s grades on parent connect, which if you haven’t signed up for make sure you do it next year. Also, a hard copy will be mailed to you by next week. If  your child or children have been doing all their work from beginning, I thank you for making it easy on them and me. If your child waited till this week to catch up on all assignments since March, I want to just say that online learning isn’t going to go away and waiting last minute doesn’t help your child’s grade. I had so many assignments I had to look at this week because of students not doing their work and I wasn’t able to turn it back for them to redo for a better grade. Even though school is over, there is a new summer template on the Henry Ford School iblog if you would like your child to continue learning throughout the summer. This isn’t for grades or something I am assigning for you to send back to me, this is to help them continue your learning and not have summer loss. Please let my students know I will miss them and good luck in fourth grade.
Thank you and please be safe!❤Ms. Hammoud

Henry Ford Student Item Pick-Up: Monday 6-1-20

Monday, June 1st from 10:30-2:30

Hello, Parents and Guardians,

We want to inform you that we will have a student item pick-up Monday, June 1st from 10:30 a.m – 2:30 p.m.  This will be your opportunity to pick-up up all of your child’s belongings that were left in the school due to the Governor’s order to shut down schools.

We are planning to have two pick-up areas outside of Henry Ford:

  • Young 5’s-2nd grade will be located along Driscoll Ave.
  • 3rd-5th grade will be located along Mercury Dr.

We would like parents and guardians to follow the route that is on the attached map.  The traffic will only go one way down Driscoll Ave. and then you will need to turn right to go down Mercury Dr.  If you need to enter the loop again you will need to turn right on Hubbard Dr., then right on Korte St. and Right on Driscoll Ave. If you only have a child in grades 3-5, you may drive directly down Mercury Dr.

Please follow the times listed below by last name letter for pick-up:

Last name starting with the letter      A      10:30-11:30

Last name starting with the letter   B – L   11:30-12:30

Last name starting with the letter   M – S   12:30 – 1:30

Last name starting with the letter   T – Z    1:30 – 2:30

When you get to the pick-up area PLEASE STAY IN YOUR CAR.  There will be a staff member that will bring up your child’s items to the window.

We will need you to have a paper to show in your passenger window with the information listed below in large print for each child that attends Henry Ford Elementary, so the staff member will know what items to bring to your car.  If any of your children have library books or other books to return they can be given to the staff member when they come up to your car.

Example of Paper to Show in Passenger Window:

1st Child –       First and Last name, Teacher Name, Grade
2nd Child –      First and Last name, Teacher Name, Grade
3rd Child  –      First and Last name, Teacher Name, Grade

Repost from @dbnschools • Dearborn Public Schools families are reminded that the meal distribution schedule will have a few changes starting the week of May 18 – the week before Memorial Day. Because schools were scheduled to be closed on Friday and Monday for Memorial Day weekend, there will be no food distribution on May 22 and 25. Meal distributions will still occur on Monday May 18 and on Wednesday May 20. The May 20 distribution will include breakfasts and lunches for a full week, so families should be prepared to carry the larger quantity, including a half gallon of milk per student. Through May 20 pickup times will continue to be later at four locations. Fordson High School, Woodworth Middle School, Salina Intermediate and McCollough Elementary will distribute meals from noon to 2 p.m. Dearborn High School, Edsel Ford High School and Smith Middle School will hand out meals from 10 a.m. to noon. The week after Memorial Day, meal distribution will go back to 10 a.m. to noon at all seven locations. Meals that week will be distributed on Wednesday, May 27 and Friday, May 29. Dearborn Public Schools has been providing 65,000 grab-and-go meals a week for our students. One person can pick up food for any student living in the home. The child does not need to attend that school. Each bag contains breakfast and lunch for the days until the next pickup. The grab-and-go meals are provided free to families through the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s School Lunch Program. Through the program, Dearborn Public Schools offered free lunch and breakfast to all kindergarten to 12th grade students before schools were closed to slow the spread of novel coronavirus. Meal distribution schedule: May 11, 13, 15, 18 and 20 Meals distributed from 10 a.m. to noon at Dearborn High School, Edsel Ford High School and Smith Middle School and from noon to 2 p.m. at Fordson High School, Woodworth Middle School, Salina Intermediate and McCollough Elementary. NO DISTRIBUTIONS MAY 22 AND 25 May 27 and 29 and June 1, 3, 5, 8 and 10 Meals distributed from 10 a.m. to noon at all seven locations.
