Weekly Objectives For April 24th- April 28th

Reading Objectives:

RI.4.10 By the end of the year, read and comprehend informational texts, including history/social studies, science, and technical texts, in the grades 4-5 text complexity band proficiently, with scaffolding as needed at the high end of the range.

Math:  4.MD.3 Apply the area and perimeter formulas for rectangles in real world and mathematical problems. For example, find the width of a rectangular room given the area of the flooring and the length, by viewing the area formula as a multiplication equation with an unknown factor.

Ability to apply knowledge of factors, finding an unknown factor in an equation, and the relationship between multiplication and area.

Ability to apply knowledge of the relationship between area and perimeter through the exploration of rectangles with the same area but different perimeters or rectangles with the same perimeter by different area.

Writing:Write informative/explanatory texts to examine a topic and convey ideas and information clearly.

Introduce a topic clearly and group related information in paragraphs and sections; include formatting (e.g., headings), illustrations, and multimedia when useful to aiding comprehension.

Link ideas within categories of information using words and phrases (e.g., another, for example, also, because).

Social studies:4 – E1.0.1:   Identify questions economists ask in examining the United States (e.g., What is produced? How is it produced? How much is produced? Who gets what is produced? What role does the government play in the economy?)

Academic Vocabulary: elaboration, section, key events, explain, account, concluding statement
