Have your child read the story or listen and then complete yesterday’s Response Journal if your child has not already done so. Thank you for your patience.

Hello!
District Testing will start next week. This data will provide me with the most up-to-date and best gauge on where your child falls academically. These assessments will help me create appropriate small groups and differentiate within our class work.
I would like to test your child in-person to ensure that the testing results will be the most accurate. Next week myself and our Reading Interventionist, Mrs. Puchala, will be giving the DRA and NWEA assessments between 9:00 to 10:45 am and 1:55 and 3:45 pm. We will be testing in groups of three. If your child is testing during a Zoom time, they will be sent the Zoom recording for that lesson. Students will also be marked as present for attendance, if they are missing class time. Assessments are time spent in the academic day.
Our school community is following social distancing and wearing masks while we are in the building. It is required that you and your child also practice social distancing and wear a mask while in the school to ensure that all safety procedures are met. The Student Screening checklist should be completed at home. We will provide you with a Parent Commitment form when you are dropping off your child that will need to be completed before your child enters the building. This Parent Commitment form will only need to be signed the first time your child enters the building.
Parents are not allowed in the building for student drop-off. We will meet you by the doors opposite the playground, where we will provide you with the sign-in sheet and escort your child to the testing area. At 3:45, your child will be brought to the playground doors to be picked up and signed out.
If you have a district issued chromebook, please bring it with you on the day of your child’s testing. Please also bring headphones. This will help prevent the spread of germs. If not, a chromebook will be given to your child to use and then sanitized afterwards.
The times you pick for now are only for testing! The Learning Lab schedule will be determined later.

I have entered all the student’s names into Zearn. Zearn is an online learning website that corresponds directly with our Eureka math. I will start everyone on Grade 2 Module 1 Lesson 1. They can complete the lessons independently. The nice feature of Zearn is that students can work ahead of the class if your child chooses to do so. I will be checking in though to make sure everyone is on pace or beyond the classroom lessons and not behind.
There is a class code and your child will have a username and password for now. I will email each parent individually with your child’s information. This will take a while so please look in your inbox later today or tomorrow for this information. Thank you!!
Response Journal- In Schoology, I posted an assignment. Epic is not up and ready yet but if your child remembers the story we read yesterday, he/she can write about it. We created a Response Journal today. It is one of the notebooks.
Math- We did not finish lesson 2. I will assign the pages tomorrow.
Science- Mystery Science is posted in Schoology. It asks that you print the animal cards and cut them out. Then watch the videos and sort the cards. If you do not have a printer, please cut paper into squares and write the animals on them and then sort those.

In Math I posted Lesson 1 in the Learn book (blue) and in the Homework book called Succeed.
