Dear Parents,
Students will receive a list of spelling words for the week every Monday. We will practice these words in school all week. Students will also complete activities with these words during Reader’s Workshop. I am sending the same list home on Mondays. Please practice these words with your child. He/she will be responsible for spelling them correctly on tests and in everyday work. Tests will be on Fridays.

Directions for Schoology
Dearborn Public Schools uses a website/app called Schoology as our virtual platform. We are to use this as a way to communicate with you and to assign tasks for the students to complete in school or at home. I have linked my blog to Schoology on the 2nd Grade ELA Course. After you log into Schoology, click on the 2nd Grade ELA Course and it will take you to the link for my blog. I also have links in there for Raz Kids as well. We want you to familiarize yourself and your child with Schoology in case we have some virtual days this school year.

How to Access Schoology
*Go to:

*Click on the S for Schoology.
*This will prompt signing in with google.
*You should have received an email from Dearborn Public Schools telling you your login information. Put in your login information now. You could use your child’s username and password if the district did not give you one. Most of the children have memorized their login information.
*This should sign you in.
*Click courses from the top of the screen.
*Select the 2nd Grade ELA Course.
*Click on the link for Mrs. Hall’s Blog
You still will be sent an email every time I send a blog in case you do not wish to use Schoology.

Our Star Student of the week is Bilal Abueida!
We have our NWEA Reading and Math Tests this week on Tuesday and Wednesday. Results will be shared at conferences in November.
In Math this week, we are preparing for Module 1 test on Thursday.
In Social Studies, we are talking about what a family is and who belongs to a family.
In Science we are going to begin looking at animal characteristics and sorting cards based on an animal’s traits.
In Reading, I am giving DRA reading tests to place children into reading groups. We are also learning about routines in whole group, small group and independent work. We call this Reader’s Workshop. We are doing a shared reading and writing on a book called Hurricanes.
On Thursday of next week, our class will have the Module 1 math test. We will review in class on the days prior to the test. Thank you.
We finished lesson 7 today. Please have your child complete pages 29-30 in the Succeed book. Do number 1, 2, 3 c and d. Then do number 4. Bring it to school tomorrow!
