I will be sending home a practice test today for you to work on with your child over the weekend.  Test on Monday!

This Thursday, November 13 and next Wednesday and Thursday, November 19 and 20 are parent teacher conferences.  At conferences we will discuss your child’s report card, NWEA Test results and a new computer educational game called VMath.    I am including on this blog a clear and user friendly parents guide to the NWEA testing.  A Parent guide to NWEA Assessments

As part of our school wide PBIS Behavior Reward, our class and Mrs. Keebler’s and Mrs. Polster’s classes will be walking over to Helm Park at 2 today for extra recess.  Sorry for the short notice but wasn’t sure we could go until this morning.  Should be a nice afternoon!

Fact sheets Monday and Wednesday.  Journal on Thursday.  No school on Tuesday.

During Social Studies today, we discussed a person’s history.  I shared some stories and pictures from my past.  We will be talking about our family history, school’s history and how to find information about the past.  Tomorrow, our class will share some of the children’s family history.  Please talk with your child tonight about some stories from your family or information about your family history.  Examples include, talking about a grandparent, where you grew up and went to school, information about aunts and uncles, etc.  Thanks!

Today your child will receive a book bag containing two books for your child to read.  Please read the enclosed note and strategy sheet to use with your child.  Please sign and return the contract on the back of the sheet tomorrow.

Changes:  On the sheet it says to return books the next day.  Keep them for a week and then send them in on Mondays.  Practice reading everyday.  Rereading develops fluency in a child’s reading.  Thanks!

Tomorrow will be picture retake day.  If you are unsatisfied with your child’s picture, return them and get a new picture taken.

Yearbook order forms are due this Friday.

Please turn in your completed Book-It Calendar by next Monday.  Your child will earn a free pizza at Pizza-Hut.  Plus, if you complete five out of the six months of Book-It, your child will win a special, secret prize.

Monday and Wednesday this week will be Fact Sheet Homework.

Tuesday and Thursday will be Journal Writing Homework.

Tests for Spelling and Fact sheets will still be on Friday.

Our gym teacher is hosting the Halloween party this year in the gym on Friday.  We need a few volunteers to help set up, run games, bring treats, clean up, supervise, etc.  If you are interested, let me know.

Our class will attend from 1-1:45.

Bring costumes in a bag on Friday and we will change into them at some point in the day.
