Wayne County Regional Enhancement Education Millage Proposal

 

School districts in Wayne County have placed a proposal on the November 8th ballot to provide added funding for our schools. It is the “Regional Enhancement Millage Proposal.”

If approved by the entire county, the 2 mil proposal will generate approximately $6.2 million from Dearborn but the District will receive $7.8 million in additional funding for our schools.  Money would go to local schools starting this year and the millage expires after six years.  Read more »

Dear parents,

I would like to welcome you to our second grade class, my name is Mrs. Hachem.  I am pleased to be working with you and your child this school year. The education of your child is very important to me. I have high expectations for all my students both academically and socially. I hope we will have an enjoyable and successful year together. I would like to explain few things about our classroom rules and procedures.

Classroom Rules:

These rules will be in effect at all times:

  1. Follow all directions the first time.
  2. Raise your hand and wait to be called on.
  3. Keep hands, feet, and all objects to yourself.
  4. Listen when others are speaking.
  5. Respect school property and other.

Behavior Management Clip Chart:

We have a set up color coded clip chart. The classroom’s behavior chart is a positive reward system to reinforce good behavior.  Your child will monitor his own behavior by receiving  a happy/sad face on that day that I am going to stamp in his/her planner. Please make sure you are reviewing your child planner everyday and sign it.

Red: Outstanding        Orange: Great Job    Yellow: Good Day    Green: Ready to Learn

Purple: Think About It     Pink: Teacher’s Choice      Light Green:  Parent’s Contact

Reward: Students who choose to follow the rules all week will earn a chance to choose a small prize from the treasure box or receive a reward coupon.

 

Academic and Personal Goals:

Each student will have academic and personal goals to expand his/her learning and social skills.  Everyday your child will take home the reading bag that includes books and a notebook. In the notebook your child will write academic, reading goal and personal goals. Please talk to your child about his/her goals and discuss how he/she will work to achieve these goals.

Homework policy:

  1. Homework will be assigned Monday through Thursday. Your child will have a homework folder to store notes, letters, or homework. Your child will have a planner for daily homework and spelling list. Please look at your child planner everyday and sign it.
  2. Students will have a SPELLING TEST every week. Please help your child study for his/her spelling test which will occur every Friday.
  3. Your child will bring home a BOOK BAG each night. Please make sure your child reads each book at least 3 times each night. Please make this is very positive and enjoyable experience. Also, your child will have reading log assignments.

Special Schedule:  Monday:  Art: 9:00-9:45     PE :   9:50-10:25

 Tuesday:  9:50-10:25    Music      Wednesday: Media Center 10: 40-11:25        

  Thursday         Enrichment:  10:40-11:25                            Friday: Music       9:00-9:45  

Our cooperation regarding daily behavior, homework and tests will help your child to succeed. I am looking forward to working with you. Please feel free to contact me at anytime during the school time.
