Class Info

Mass Email:

Dear Parents and/or Guardians,

My name is Mirvat Habhab and I will be your child’s 2nd grade teacher for the  2020-2021 school year at Becker Elementary. I am excited to get to know each and every one of you.

These are very uncertain times for our students and for this reason our main goal for the first week of school is to make your child as comfortable as possible. For the first week of school our schedule will be very flexible until Schoology is made readily available to everyone. Our morning Zoom sessions will be held from  8:55-9:55 on a daily basis. During this time, our class will get to know one another and build relationships. We will do this through conversations, projects, read alouds, and kinesthetic activities. You can find the Zoom URL and passcode for Tuesday’s morning Zoom session in this email. After our morning Zoom session, from 10:00-12:00 students will work individually on an assignment. This assignment will be used the following day during the morning message. During this 10:00-12:00 period, I will be reaching out to parents and students through individual Zoom sessions or in person parent orientation. For this first week only, some assignments will be sent through Class Dojo and i blog until Schoology is ready to use.

Tuesday thru Thursday, September 1 thru September 3rd , we will be distributing Eureka math and Benchmark reading materials. I will be seated in front of the school and distribution will occur by appointment. Please ensure you are following proper protocol including wearing a mask and maintaining 6 ft distance. Also, our 2nd grade supply list will be ready for pick up.

For your convenience, below is a video showing how to accept a zoom invitation from me:

Wayne County Regional Enhancement Education Millage Proposal

School districts in Wayne County have placed a proposal on the November 8th ballot to provide added funding for our schools. It is the “Regional Enhancement Millage Proposal.”

If approved by the entire county, the 2 mil proposal will generate approximately $6.2 million from Dearborn but the District will receive $7.8 million in additional funding for our schools.  Money would go to local schools starting this year and the millage expires after six years.  Continue reading
