Support Pizza Day & You Support Our Schools!
Starting November 9th Pizza Day is now “Pizza Days” as parents, students, and the entire community can support the Foundation and your local pizzerias by simply placing an order for your favorite pizza on any Wednesday In November – making it a W.I.N. for everyone
For years the Pizza Day campaign has been successful in helping to support local pizzerias and raise awareness and dollars for the Foundation. Last year, the Foundation streamlined the process making it easier for local pizzerias to participate and increasing the amount of exposure these businesses get for taking part in the program. The additional days also gives the community more opportunities to participate.
“Small business owners are hit most in these economic conditions and their time and resources should be respected. So last year we fortified a great tradition and it proved to be a great success. We hope it will continue to be for years to come,” stated Eddie N. Fakhoury, Executive Director of the Foundation.
The Education Foundation is a licensed 501c3 non-profit organization that helps enhance the education that students receive from Dearborn Public Schools through grants to fund technology, equipment and innovative programs not funded by the school district’s budget. Since its inception the organization has funded more than $1,300,000 million in grants.
All funds raised by the Foundation go to fund teacher grants that are submitted throughout the year.
Show your support for our schools and our community pizzerias starting on Wednesday, November 9th and place your order at one of these outstanding participating businesses:

Fall Newsletter
Welcome to Fall in Room 204! We continue to stay busy and focused on being lifelong learners. In Math, we just completed the unit on Geometry. We are now studying estimation and computation. As always, we are also working on memorizing our basic addition, subtraction and multiplication facts. Please encourage your child to practice these at home. The Math page of my blog has lots of fun websites for math fact practice.
In Science we are continuing our Life Science unit. We wrapped up body systems and their functions by doing PowerPoint presentations. We are currently in the process of presenting them to our classmates. Look for some to be posted on my blog on the Science page. We are now focusing on traits and characteristics, both physical and behavioral.
In Language Arts, we are working on a writing piece about our classroom pet praying mantis, Bob. Students were invited to write a story about Bob, choosing their own genre. They are now working on using a rubric to make their writing more interesting and complete. We are wrapping up our reading assessments and will begin meeting in groups regularly.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to contact me! My email is gwizdza@dearborn.k12.mi.us, and my blog site is https://blog.dearbornschools.org/gwizdza.

A Request
Parents~ PLEASE! All children must walk to the cones in the front of the building after dismissal and SHAKE MY HAND. This is a school-wide rule that is in place to protect your children. If you need to take your child out of line before we get to the cones, please notify me so that I am aware that you took him/her. Also, if your child’s siblings, aunt, uncle, grandparent, neighbor etc. will be picking him/her up, please let them know about the dismissal procedure. Thank you so much for your help in this matter.
Parent-Teacher Conferences
It is that time of year again when I get to sit down and discuss all my favorite fifth graders! If you have not done so already, I encourage you to visit the Parent Info page and sign up for an available conference time. In the reply box, state your name, your child’s name and the date and time of the conference you would like. First come, first served! Thank you, and I look forward to meeting with you!
