Tall Tales!
In writing we are learning about Tall Tales. Today we discussed exaggeration and superlatives, then read Tall Tales to find examples.
Some examples of exaggeration included: Johnny Appleseed was a fireball of energy! Also, from Paul Bunyan, he combs his hair with a pine tree!
Some examples of superlatives included: from Sluefoot Sue, she was the best rider in the west! From Old Stormalong, the biggest Yankee clipper docked in the harbor!
Ask your fifth grader about Tall Tales!

“I don’t need anything, I have all I need. I just want to be able to provide the food, clothes and other items that my grandchildren need now and in the future,” commented Ms. Sironen.
The event will also feature a tin can raffle, music, and face painting for kids. Tickets are priced at $10 Adults, $5 Children (age 2 and under free). Donated desserts will be available for an additional cost.
The event is sponsored by the City of Dearborn, Dearborn Public Schools, Dearborn Firefighters Burn Drive, Gary Kuhlmann from Park Place Banquet Hall and Catering, adult and student community service groups, and many other caring individuals!
There will also be an adult only afterglow with a cash bar at the Biergarten located at 22184 Michigan Ave., Dearborn, starting at 8:00 pm. The afterglow will feature plenty of fun with karaoke and guest bartenders from the Dearborn Firefighters Burn Drive and other local celebrities!
