Week of November 14-November 18, 2016

Kindergarten

Content Objective:  I can demonstrate knowledge of how things move by observing and sorting objects according to the force (push or pull) I used to make them move or work.

Language Objective:  I can draw or orally explain how things move by using the sentence stems:

 I can push a______________.

I can pull a ______________.

Vocabulary

Force, push, pull, move, work, sorting, toward, away from

P.FM.00.31  Demonstrate pushes and pulls on objects that can move.

P.FM.00.12  Describe the direction of a moving object (for example: away from, toward)

First Grade

Content Objective:  I can demonstrate knowledge of weather by observing (sight, sound, and feel)today’s weather outside.

Language Objective:  I can draw a picture of today’s weather (include what you saw, heard, and felt) and label with vocabulary word about weather.

Vocabulary:

Temperature, warm, cold, hot, cool, windy, calm, breezy, rainy, sunny, cloudy, partly cloudy, clear, foggy

S.IP.01.11  Make purposeful observations of the natural world using the appropriate senses.

E.ES.E2 Weather- weather changes from day to day and over seasons.

Second Grade

Content Objective:  I can demonstrate comprehension of water found on Earth by using a globe and magnifying glass to observe and find different bodies of water.

Language Objective: I can draw and write characteristics about the bodies of water found.

Vocabulary:  water, sources, well, ground water, surface water, ocean, lake, pond, river, stream salt water, fresh water, atmosphere

E.FE.E.1  Water is a natural resource and is found under the ground, on the surface of the Earth, and in the sky.  It exists in three states (liquid, solid, gas).

E.FE.02.11  Identify water sources(wells, springs, lakes, oceans).

Third Grade

Content Objective: I can demonstrate synthesis of the concepts of forces and motion by building a launcher using craft sticks, rubber bands, and a plastic spoon to launch a cotton ball the farthest distance.

Language Objective: I can draw and write to explain how I built my launcher and what worked and how I could improve it.

Vocabulary;

Force, motion, gravity, friction, launcher

Fourth Grade:

The students will pretend to be Engineers and Builders in a Lego activity.  Students will pair up and be given the same Lego pieces.  Sitting back to back (so they can’t see other’s Lego) one student will act as the Engineer and explain how to build something out of Lego pieces to the builder (other student).  The Engineer student needs to give very detailed directions.  When finished, they will compare their two Lego structures.  The structures should look the same.

Fifth Grade

(Intro to New Unit- Dynamics of Solar System)

Content Objective:  I can demonstrate knowledge of our Solar System by creating  a model or poster to represent at least 2 concepts they already know about the Solar System.

Language Objective:  I can draw, write, or use models to orally explain concepts of our solar system.

Focus Questions to think about:

What do you know about our Solar System?

How is the Solar System a system?

What makes up our Solar System?

How do the objects in the Solar System move? (What moves around what & how?)

Why do we have seasons?

Vocabulary:

Solar System, Earth, Moon, Sun, Planets, Revolve, Rotate, Seasons, gravitational force, motion
