Kindergarten -(Wrap up of 5 Senses Unit)
Content Objective: I can demonstrate comprehension of all 5 senses by cutting, sorting, and pasting pictures according the correct sense being used.
Language Objective: I can orally explain how I use all of my senses giving at least one example for each.
Sentence Stem:
I use my sense of __________ when I __________.
Vocabulary:
5 senses, taste, touch, smell, hear, see, eyes, mouth, tongue, hands, ears
First Grade
Content Objective: I can demonstrate comprehension of the properties of objects by describing the properties(color, size, shape, texture, magnetic, sink/float, weight, solid, liquid, or gas, how it is used, etc) of my mystery object so that my classmates can easily guess my object.
Language Objective: I can orally give property clues about my mystery object.
Sentence Stems:
My mystery Object is __________________
My Mystery Object has_________________
The object in my bag is used for______________
Vocabulary: observe, properties, size, color, shape, texture, weight, solid, liquid, gas, sink, float, magnetic, non-magnetic
P.PM.E1 Physical Properties- All objects and substances have physical properties that can be measured.
Second Grade -This Week “Creating the Hats”
(Engineering Activity- Mystery Science- “The Mad Hatter”)
Content Objective:
I can demonstrate comprehension of properties of materials by testing the properties of brown paper bags, paper plates, paper towel, aluminum foil for their stiffness, ability to soak water, and softness to create the best hat to wear in a desert setting.
Language Objective:
I can draw and write to explain how and why I created my hat the way I did.
Vocabulary
Properties, compare, materials, stiffness, softness, absorb
P.PM.02.12 Describe objects and substances according to their properties (color, size, shape, texture, hardness, liquid or solid, sinking or floating)
P.PM.E.1 Physical Properties- All objects and substances have physical properties that can be measured.
Third Grade
Content Objective: I can demonstrate synthesis of the concepts of forces and motion by building a launcher using craft sticks, rubber bands, and a plastic spoon to launch a cotton ball the farthest distance.
Language Objective: I can draw and write to explain how I built my launcher and what worked and how I could improve it.
Vocabulary;
Force, motion, gravity, friction, launcher
*This week the students formed groups and made 2 plans and begin creating their launcher ideas:)
Fourth Grade
Content Objective: I can demonstrate comprehension of magnetism and how it works by exploring magnets at various centers to learn about how they attract and repel at the poles, different strengths, and magnetic fields.
Language Objectives: I can write to explain what I observed and explored at the magnetic centers.
Sentence Stems:
I observed____________________.
I was shocked that ________________________.
I never knew that _________________________.
I really enjoyed learning about________________.
Vocabulary: energy, magnetism, magnets, poles, attract, repel, strength, magnetic field
P.EN..E.5 Electrical circuits transfer electrical energy and produce magnetic fields.
Fifth Grade
Content Objective: I can demonstrate comprehension of Newton’s Third Law of Motion by predicting and exploring with various activities that demonstrate this Law of Motion (Pendulum, Balloon Rocket, and Hitting Marbles).
Language Objective: I can write to explain how one of the activities performed today was an example of Newton’s Third Law of Motion.
Sentence Stem:
The _____________ activity was an example of Newton’s Third Law of Motion.
This activity showed Newton’s Third law by _______________________.
Vocabulary: Motion, Force, Newton’s Third Law of Motion, equal and opposite reaction
