Content Objective: I can demonstrate comprehension of how objects move by comparing different objects to see which move faster or slower and if the amount of force changes it.
Language Objective: I can cut and paste objects into the correct column of fast or slow movement and orally say using sentence stem:
The ___________ moves___________.
The __________moves_____________ than the ___________.
Vocabulary: force, push, pull, move, toward, away from, faster, slower, at rest
P.FM.00.12 Describe the direction of a moving object(for example: away from, toward).
P.FM.00.33 Observe how pushes and pulls can change the speed or direction of moving objects.
First Grade
Content Objective: I can demonstrate comprehension of clouds and how rain is formed by making a model of a rain cloud using shaving cream(cloud) on top of a cup of water and adding drops of food coloring (water droplets) to create heavy clouds.
Language Objective: I can draw and write to explain why it rains using sentence stems:
Clouds are made of _______________
It rains when the clouds get too __________
Vocabulary: observations, weather, clouds, atmosphere, water drops, rain, heavy, temperature
E.ES.01.21 Compare daily changes in weather related to temperature, cloud cover, precipitation(rain, snow, sleet, hail), wind.
Second Grade
Content Objective: I can demonstrate comprehension of the water cycle by acting out how water changes (evaporation, condensation, precipitation) throughout a cycle to a song.
Language Objective: I can write and draw to explain the water cycle by labeling parts of the cycle and explaining in my own words how the water cycle works.
Vocabulary: water, liquid, solid, gas, water cycle, evaporation, condensation, precipitation
E.FE.E.1 Water is a natural resource and is found underground, on the surface of the Earth, and in the sky. It exists in three states (liquid, solid. gas) and can go back and forth from one to another.
Third Grade
Content Objective: I can demonstrate comprehension of how sound is made by exploring sounds using a rubber-band and cup, tongue depressor, and tuning fork.
Language Objective: I can write and draw to explain how sound is made.
Sentence stems:
Sound is made when__________________.
I know this because__________________________.
Vocabulary: sound, sound waves, vibrations, back and forth motion
P.EN.E.3 Sound- Vibrating objects produce sound. The pitch of sound varies by changing the rate of vibratio
Fourth Grade
Content Objective: I can demonstrate application of measuring mass by solving and using a balance scale with gram weights to see how much water a dry sponge can hold.
Language Objectives: I can write to explain the results I found using the sentence stem:
I (was/wasn’t) surprised by my results. The results showed that_________________________.
Vocabulary: matter, mass, takes up space, measure, balance scale, gram, kilograms, absorb, soak, weight, milliliter, volume
P.PM.04.16 Measure the mass(balances in grams or kilograms of objects.)
Fifth Grade
Content Objective: I can demonstrate comprehension of the phases of the moon by using a lamp/flashlight (sun), styro-foam white ball (moon) and small globe (Earth) to model how the phases of the moon occur.
Language Objective: I can create a moon wheel that shows the different moon phases and explain what is happening in my own words using vocabulary words.
Vocabulary: moon, earth, sun, orbit, revolve, rotate, phases, new moon, waxing crescent, first quarter, waxing gibbous, full moon, waning gibbous, last quarter, waning crescent
E.ST.05.23 Explain the phases of the moon.
