Dear Families,

We visited the school library today.  Students were able to choose books that they would like to check out.  Please encourage your child to read his/her library books at home each night. 15-20 minutes is a good amount of time to read each evening.  If the book is way above his/her reading level, you may read it to them.

Mrs. Bush, our literacy coach, and I have been testing the students’ reading levels.  Once we are all finished, we will have book bags ready to send home for homework on a weekly basis.  Both Mrs. Bush and I have been really impressed with this group’s reading accuracy and comprehension! GREAT job boys and girls!!  🙂

Spelling homework will be coming home this evening.  It is due on Friday.

Open House will take place this Thursday evening from 6:00-7:30 p.m.  Families are welcome to come in and visit our classroom.  This is simply a meet & greet / walk – through event.  Hope to see you then!  🙂

Yesterday your child brought home a tan colored emergency form.  Please add any updates and return it to school today.   It is important that we have this information on file at school in case of an emergency.  Thank you for your cooperation!

I’m so happy to have such an great group of talented, smart students!  The boys and girls have done a wonderful job with following directions and I couldn’t be more pleased.

Thank you for the supplies.  We are so grateful.  Please remember to send a snack and water bottle daily.  We’ve had a couple of really hot days and the water has helped us tremendously.  We are looking forward to some cooler temperatures tomorrow and next week.  No one has melted yet!  🙂

Here is our special schedule for the school year.  1st graders will be visiting Mrs. Slater and Mrs. Kearney’s rooms for the subjects of social studies and science.   2nd graders will be visiting Mrs. Nowak and Mrs. Sabellico’s rooms for the subjects of social studies and science.  This will allow for small group math instruction to take place in our classroom, while the other half of the class is learning in a different room.  Once I have the 2nd grade social studies and science schedule from the 2nd grade teachers, I will post it. 🙂
