Special Education Awareness

This month, our special education staff discussed with our students the importance of Person First Language. When we are communicating with and about people with disabilities, we should always use Person First Language. This form of language places emphasize on the person, NOT the disability.  All people have individualized goals, interests, and abilities, whether they have a disability or not. Person First Language allows us to look at these individual characteristics rather than the disability. An example of Person First Language is “child with autism” rather than “autistic child.” Raising awareness for this type of language will ensure that ALL students feel comfortable and valued at our school.

Thank you parent volunteers

Thank you to Mrs. Orsette, Mr. Petersen, Mrs. Waske and Mrs. Kanclerz for chaperoning our field trip last week!  The children had a blast!

Thank you also to Ms. Giles, Mrs. Kanclerz and Mr. Petersen for helping us shop at the Penguin Holiday Shop today!  Lots of fun presents will be brought home this evening.

Missing Black Snowpants

Hello!

A child came to school with black overall snowpants yesterday, but they were missing at dismissal time.  They are lined with the color pink on the inside.  Please send them back to school if your child may have accidentally taken them home.

Thank you!
