NWEA Reading Test Tomorrow Morning

Good afternoon!

1st and 2nd graders will be tested on their reading skills tomorrow morning through the NWEA.  I’m convinced all scores will improve since I’ve seen growth from all of my students since September.  (If your 2nd grader scored very high on the fall NWEA reading test, then he/she will be given a more advanced test this time.  Do not worry if your child’s score does not improve a lot if they are taking the advanced test.)  Please be sure that your child gets a good night’s sleep tonight and eats a healthy breakfast tomorrow morning.  Also, please be sure to send a snack with your child tomorrow.

Thank you for your cooperation!

NWEA Testing

Dear Families,

We will be taking the NWEA on the following dates:

Thursday, January 19th:  Reading

Thursday, January 26:  Math

It is important that your child gets a good night’s sleep the nights before each test.  Also, please make sure that he/she gets a good breakfast and brings a snack to school on these days.

Thank you for your cooperation!

Achievements Showcase

WORK HARD AND BE PROUD OF YOUR ACHIEVEMENTS Showcase:

Dear Students and Families of Snow School,
There are many wonderful milestones that have been accomplished by our students at school and in our community. As part of our Leader in Me Program, we would like to showcase these milestones. If your son/daughter individually, or as part of your family, a group or a team, has risen to the next level in anything-sports/reading/volunteering, etc., or has shown great leadership, participated in charity events, helps out at Scouts, church, or in another way, please send in documentation and we will post these in our new showcase for Leadership. Items, with names!!!, should be sent to Mrs. Zechar. Your items will be returned after the month they have been posted. If we get a lot of entries we might have to hold on to yours for a bit before it gets posted. Thanks for your help in celebrating our Snow School Community!

Family Science Night

Dear Snow Families,

We are very excited to bring to Snow Elementary School our 4th Annual Family Science Night!  It will take place on Thursday, January 26th 6:00-7:30 p.m.  The evening will begin in the gym with a “Wacky Science” presentation by Scheer Magic Productions.  This will begin at 6:00 p.m. sharp, so please plan accordingly.  After the assembly, you and your family will have time to walk around the school to see the wonderful science projects that the students have accomplished.   We invite you to celebrate our success and support your student’s science skill development.

Sincerely,

The Science Fair Committee & Snow PTA

Note from Ms. Zechar

Hello, Snow School Community!!!   Our Lobby will soon become a “Wolf Den”.  Students will be making trees, rocks, etc., to enhance our space. We are looking for any artificial trees that might get thrown out after the holidays. Any tree- big, small, tiny, medium, fat, skinny, etc., is eligible. Please let us know if you have one or if someone you know does. Ms. Zechar can pick them up or you can drop them off at school. Questions? Please email Ms. Zechar at zecharj@dearbornschools.org or call school, 313-827-6250, and she will get back to you.   Spread the word.   Tons of thanks!!

Snow Shoveling Club

Calling all shovelers!

Let it snow!!!

As part of Snow Elementary Leader In Me Program, we are asking you, our fabulous students, to reach out in our community to help others.  If you’d like to be a part of the Snow Shoveling Club, simply volunteer to shovel a neighbor’s, relatives or your very own driveway and sidewalk.  Please be sure to have a parent with you and get permission of the community member before shoveling.  You are giving back to the community, so please offer to do this free of cost.

Each time you shovel someone’s snow, color a square on the chart sent home.  Once you have helped 5 members in the community, please return the chart to Mrs. Grizzell for acknowledgement of your leadership and kindness.

Thank you!
