WIDA Testing – for English Language Learners – from Mrs. Saad

Dear Families,
WIDA testing begins today Monday, February 6th and will end March 24th.  This test is given to English Language Learners.  The test will assess students Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking skills.  If you have any questions about this please email or call me.

PBIS Party – Electronics – Thursday Feb. 16

If your child had five or less card flips in the months of December, January and February, then he/she will be able to attend our next PBIS party.  It will be an electronics themed party and will take place on the afternoon of Thursday, February 16th.  Students may bring handheld electronic gaming devices from home for our special celebration.  I will lock up all electronics until the party time.  If you’d rather not send in an electronic, students may use our school chromebooks and have free time on kid appropriate websites.  Please return the permission slip on our electronics policy by Tuesday, February 14th, if you will be sending in an electronic device from home.

Valentine’s Day

Good morning!

We will be having a low-key valentine party on Tuesday, February 14th.  If you’d like your child to participate in a valentine card exchange, please have him/her bring valentine cards to class on the 14th.  The card exchange is optional.  I will send home a class list today.  Also, we will be needing items to be donated for our treats/snacks for the day.  Requested items include:  baby carrots and dip, pretzels, chips, cupcakes, cookies, 22 napkins, 22 paper plates and 22 juice boxes.  If you’d like to send something in, please send me an email and I will sign you up.  grizzed@dearbornschools.org

PTA Meeting Reminder!
Please join the PTA tonight at 5pm in the Media Center to discuss the changes to the Annual Snow Picnic (now carnival) that will be taking place in May this year. We’d like to get some feedback and share what we have in mind. We are also looking for volunteers to help us make this new Carnival a success! Then stay for our February PTA meeting at 6pm where we will go over many items and upcoming events such as Book Bingo, Book Fair, etc. Look forward to seeing everyone there! Thank you!
Movie Night at Snow!
Come watch Zootopia Fri., Feb. 3 at in the Snow gym.
Doors open at 6:00 p.m.
Movie starts at 6:30 p.m.
There will be popcorn and baked goods to purchase. If you would like to donate baked goods or water for that night, please leave on the bake sale rack outside the office anytime that day.
Parents must accompany children. No drop-offs.
Bring a blanket or sleeping bag, hang out with your friends and watch a free movie!

Good Morning Families,

I want to thank all who were able to make it to Family Science Night last Thursday!  It was a huge success.  The students REALLY enjoyed the science magician!  If you were unable to make it, I hung our boards in the hallway leading up to our classroom.  Come stop in anytime! 🙂

Some students have a few more problems to finish up on the NWEA math test today.  Scores should be viewable and printable by me tomorrow.  I should be able to send home your child’s scores then.  So far, the students are doing GREAT and showing a lot of growth!

T-Shirt Unity for Science Day Tomorrow – Thursday

We are all Snow Science Leaders!  Let’s celebrate our success by wearing our “Snow Leaders” shirts to school tomorrow to school and in the evening for Family Science Night.  If you do not have a Snow Leaders shirt, there are some available for purchase in the office for $5.  Students may also choose to wear any Snow Apparel that they own or the color blue.

Thursday, January 26 Family Science Night

Dear Snow Families,

We are very excited to bring to Snow Elementary School our 4th Annual Family Science Night!  It will take place on Thursday, January 26th 6:00-7:30 p.m.  The evening will begin in the gym with a “Wacky Science” presentation by Scheer Magic Productions.  This will begin at 6:00 p.m. sharp, so please plan accordingly.  After the assembly, you and your family will have time to walk around the school to see the wonderful science projects that the students have accomplished.   You may also visit with the STEM Middle School Robotics Team.  We invite you to celebrate our success and support your student’s science skill development.

** ALL SNOW STUDENTS:  Please wear your “Snow Leaders Shirts.”  If you do not have one, please wear any Snow t-shirt or the color blue. **

NWEA Reading Scores Coming Home Today

Good afternoon,

Your child’s NWEA reading score will be coming home today.  ALL students improved their scores!! I’m so proud of them!!  We will be doing the Math NWEA on Thursday, January 26th.  I will send an updated score sheet that will include the winter math score after that assessment.
