Last minute field trip just planned- This Thursday :)

Dear Families,

Mrs. Zechar has planned a free, last minute opportunity for your child to walk to Stout Middle School to see a performance of Aladdin, Jr., The Musical.  This is for Thursday, April 20!  Permission slips will be sent home tomorrow.  They need to be returned on Wednesday. We will have police help cross the students at Oakwood Blvd. to ensure their safety.  The performance starts at 9:30am SHARP and will last until 11 am.  We will be joining students from Haigh and DuVall.  We will walk back to Snow at the conclusion of the performance and lunch will be at our regularly scheduled time.  This opportunity has been opened up to Snow’s kindergarten through third grade only.  Fourth grade has NWEA prep and Fifth grade has M-Step testing.  Please let either Ms. Zechar or Mrs. Grajek know of any questions that you may have.

Happy Easter – Happy Spring!

Good evening,

Happy Easter to all those who celebrate!  I hope that everyone is enjoying their weekend.  It looks like the weather has finally turned to the bright, sunny side and better days are ahead! 🙂   I hope you were all able to take advantage of the outdoors on this beautiful weekend.

I wanted to thank everyone who has reached out. 🙂  I am so thankful for such a kind, caring group of families.  The surgery was successful and I am home recovering now.  My movement is very limited, but I feel better each day.  I look forward to seeing my class when I am approved by my doctor.

Here is Mrs. Grajek’s email in case you need to get a hold of her while I am absent:

Kind regards,

Dana Grizzell

Thank you

Dear Families,

Thank you for the well-wishes and kind send off today!  My surgery is scheduled for tomorrow.  The class will be in good hands with Mrs. Grajek.  Please let her know of any questions or concerns that you may have while I am out.  I am hoping to be back on Thursday, April 27th.  Our field trip to the Ann Arbor Theater is still scheduled for Tuesday, April 25th.  Students will travel to the theater by school bus.  Please send a sack lunch on this day.  Mrs. Nowak has arranged for us to have a picnic lunch at Ford Field park in Dearborn on the way back.  A special thank you to Mrs. Aun, Mrs. Andrews, Mrs. Blaire-Sosnoski and Mrs. Dakroub for chaperoning this day.  If you have any questions about the field trip, please email Mrs. Nowak  at nowakj@dearbornschools.org

Thank you again and see you soon! 🙂

Congratulations Adam and Farah!

Congratulations to Adam Litton for being one of the top competitors in the Moby Max Challenge!  He will get a pizza lunch on Thursday! 🙂

Also, congratulations to Farah Fahs!  Her artwork will represent Snow Elementary School at the annual Dearborn Youth Arts Festival at the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center.  The annual show opens on Wednesday, April 19, at 4:10, and runs through May 18.

Great job Adam and Farah!

In-School Field Trip

Dear Families,

We have arranged for The Cranbrook Institute of Science to come and do a fun, hands-on science experiment for our students. This will take place in the afternoon of May 12th at Snow Elementary.  Students will learn about animal life: how animals grow; change and survive by looking closely at insects and other small creatures under microscopes.  Parents are welcome to come and help with the lesson.  Please send $7.00 cash by Friday, April 28th so that we can make our deposit.  Thank you for your support in your child’s science skill development.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Grizzell

Mrs. Kearney

Mrs. Slater

Spring Cleaners – Giving Back Action Team

Calling All Spring Cleaners!

As part of Snow Elementary Leader In Me Program, we are asking you, our fabulous students, to reach out in our community to help others.  If you’d like to be a part of the April Clean-Up Club, simply volunteer to help clean-up a neighbor’s, relative’s or your very own yard.  “Clean-up” could include pulling weeds, raking up leftover leaves and sticks from the fall, or picking up trash that has blown into the yard.  Please be sure to have a parent with you and get permission of the community member before cleaning up.  You are giving back to the community, so please offer to do this free of cost.

Each time you help clean-up someone’s yard, write the date and color a square on the chart that is available to you from your classroom teacher.  Once you have helped 5 members in the community, please return the chart to your teacher for acknowledgement of your leadership and kindness.

Thank you for consideration in being a part of our Snow School’s Giving Back Action Team!

Surgery

Dear Parents,

Recently I found out that I have a health issue that will require surgery soon.  I will be out for surgery and recovery beginning Wednesday, April 12th.  I will be out approx. 2 weeks depending on how well I recover.  The class will be in good hands with Mrs. Grajek.  She was our music substitute while Mr. Stinson was out this fall and she has subbed in our classroom a few times.  I will write lessons for her and try my best to keep you updated by using my classroom blog.  Please let Mrs. Grajek or Mrs. Alcodray, our new principal, of any questions or concerns that you may have while I am out.

Thank you for your understanding,

Dana Grizzell
