MOBY MAX Summer Challenge

Summer Learning: Reading and Math

Dear Snow Families,

According to Johns Hopkins University, the effects of summer learning loss (summer slide) can result in nearly a three-month loss in grade-level equivalency in math and a two-month loss in reading.

Your child had a great school year and has learned so much!  We do not want the summer slide to occur as we want your child to start off strong next year!  Reading and math skills can be practiced on MobyMax.

Mrs. Bush will monitor student work and post the leaders on the Snow School blog  https://iblog.dearbornschools.org/mrsbush/  Click here for Mrs. Bush’s Blog.  MobyMax offers many areas of learning so it is important that your child and you are aware of their target areas listed above.

A prize will be awarded in September to our top Moby Max winners!

Let’s Stay Cool & Finish the Year on a GREAT note!

Dear Families,                                                                   5-29-18

I hope that you had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend!  Thank you to all of our veterans who have served and family members who are in the service.  We are so grateful for you!

The end of the year is approaching quickly!  With this, comes hot weather. Students are welcome to bring in juice, Gatorade or water to keep in my classroom refrigerator and drink whenever they’d like.  Unfortunately we do not have air-conditioning. I will use fans to try to keep my room as cool as possible. If you have any fans to donate to our room, we will gladly use them.

So far, we are doing well with our NWEA tests!  We completed Math and Reading NWEA.  Tomorrow we will do the Language NWEA and next week we will do the Science NWEA.  Test data for all 4 tests will be printed for you and sent home when these two tests are complete.  A special congratulations to our students who achieved the highest scores:

Reading:   Vinny, Amelia & Kallie

Math:  Vinny, Saeed, & Ivan

A special congratulations to our students who achieved most improved scores from September:

Reading:  Malaak, Abdul A. & Hasan

Math:  Abdul A., Malaak & Ella
