Field Trip Tomorrow, Monday, October 1st

Good evening families,

As of now, we are still planning on attending the field trip tomorrow.  Please have your child wear rain/snow boots or old shoes, a poncho or rain jacket and bring an umbrella.  Don’t have a poncho?  A trash bag is a GREAT substitute!  Students must also remember to bring a sack lunch with disposable drink.

Parents who are chaperoning:  Since we have a large number of you who will be chaperoning and we have a small class, you will be responsible for your child only.  We plan to be together as one big group for the whole trip.  If you are able, please meet us in the classroom by 9:00 a.m. to go over the rules quickly.  Otherwise, if you’d like to meet us at Three Cedars Farm, we plan to leave Snow by 9:15 a.m.  The address is:  7897 Six Mile Rd.  Northville, MI.

Thank you for helping to make our day a fun one, rain or shine!  🙂

Math Test unit 1

Good afternoon!

I hope that everyone is enjoying this beautiful day!  I will be sending home your child’s unit 1 math test today.  If you child scored less than 100%, he/ she may retake the problem(s) that he/she missed to bring up his/ her grade.  Retakes will be given Friday.  Good luck!  🙂

Book Bags – Reading at Home

Students are asked to read Monday-Thursday and one night over the weekend for 20 mins.  Please help  your child to become responsible by reading and filling in his/her reading log at home.  Parents, please sign the log each time your child reads.  Thank you for supporting your child’s reading skill development.

Field Trip

Dear Families,

Second graders will be traveling to 3 Cedars Farm in Northville, MI on Monday, October 1st.  This will be an all day field trip and we will be traveling by school bus.  The cost is $6.  Please send cash only.  Parents may chaperone.  Please be sure you have filled out a criminal background check in the office by Monday, Sept. 24th.  Background checks last 3 years, so if you filled one out for your child in kindergarten or 1st grade, then you are all set.  If you are unsure if you have one filled out and it’s been approved, please see Ms. Michelle or Ms. Haifa in the office.  Parents will be asked to drive on their own due to the bus being full.  Parents will pay $6 for their  admission as well.

Hope you can join us on this fun day!  We are hoping for great weather!  🙂

MOBYMAX online at home

Hello!

Here is the link that leads to MOBYMAX.  MOBYMAX is an online tool that Snow students use to increase proficiency in math and reading.  Click this link:

https://dearbornschools.org/resources/students

Then have students log into CLEVER.  Then they will click on MOBYMAX.

I am sending home a list of which apps the students may practice at home.  We are having classroom and school-wide competitions.  Students with the most achievement badges will win prizes.  Thank you for your support in your child’s skill development!

Field Trip Oct. 1st

Good afternoon,

We will be traveling to Three Cedars Farm in Northville by school bus on Monday, October 1st.  If you’d like to chaperone, please make sure you have filled out the background check form in the office.  You will need to bring your driver’s license.  Background checks are good for 2 years, so if you filled one out last year, then you are all set! 🙂  Please see Ms. Michelle in the office by Friday AM if you are interested in chaperoning this field trip.  She can tell you if your form is up to date or if you need to renew.  More information on the trip will be sent home from Ms. AlSaad.

Thank you for your cooperation,

Mrs. Grizzell

A new week!

Good evening!

I hope that everyone had a fun and relaxing weekend!  I want to tell you all that it was so nice seeing you at open house last week!  I have such a wonderful class this year and now it makes sense after meeting all of the wonderful families!

Book bags were sent home this evening.  Please have your child read the book to you for 15-20 minutes.  If he/she finishes it before 20 minutes are up, please have our child log onto MobyMax at home to work on reading skills.  We are in a school-wide MobyMax competition to increase reading and phonic skill development.  Once students earn a badge, they may color a square on their charts hung in the classroom.  If you have any trouble logging onto MobyMax from home, please let me know.  Mrs. Bush will help.

Math homework was also sent home this evening.  Please see the attached parent note, if you have any questions.  We are learning many new strategies to solve math problems.  Hang tight, I know some of them seem foreign right now.  The students are catching on!  Also, there are many ways to solve a problem.  It’s ok if we all do not use the same strategy.

Wednesday is a late start.  School will begin at 9:35 a.m.

Have a great week!

Mrs. Grizzell
