Welcome Letter from our New Principal

Dear Parents/Guardians of Snow Elementary,

It is with great pleasure and an honor to serve you as the new principal of Snow Elementary School beginning October 1st of this year. I look forward to meeting all of you and working alongside the community.  I am honored to have the opportunity to lead a school with such a rich legacy of success and so many points of pride. I have dedicated my career to the students of Dearborn for the last 16 years. I started my career as an elementary classroom teacher then moved on to an elementary resource teacher/instructional coach at Salina intermediate. I then moved on to be a middle school bilingual resource teacher and have spent the last four years as Assistant principal at Woodworth Middle School. I am eager to dedicate my skills to the Snow community.

As all of us embark on the upcoming school year we do so for the first time with high levels of uncertainty due to the current international crisis we all know as Covid-19. This has affected all of us in so many ways. Our students and community as a whole have had to encounter many hardships as a result. However, this will not deter our mission to make this school year the best one ever. I plan on working with parents, teachers, students and the entire Snow community to ensure that our students are safe and learning at high levels. Together we will continue to provide experiences that are rigorous, relevant and with relationships based on trust to prepare them for their future endeavors. As your new principal it is important to me to greet everyone who enters the school with the utmost respect. I have an open door policy and value every stakeholder’s opinion. Please feel free to contact me to discuss any concerns you may have or any points of pride you would like to share.

I look forward to our work together in the years to come and establishing a team committed to the Snow community. Please stay safe and have a great school year.

Sincerely,

Mohammad Abdelfattah

Snow Elementary Principal

Monday News

Hello!

We had successful zoom meetings this morning. For the rest of the day, your child will work independently.

  1. Before 1:00, start i-Ready Diagnostic – Students will log onto i-Ready from CLEVER from the student portal on Dearborn Public Schools. Students will work on the i-Ready Diagnostic for 20-30 minutes. Please DO NOT help your child with this test. It is testing his/her level so that it can give the instruction that he/she needs.
  2. At 1:00, go onto Schoology and click on “Technology/ Mrs. Wilcox” and complete her lesson. Thank you.

Fall Assessments will now be by Zoom

In alignment with the Learning Lab guidelines that include a Covid positivity rate less than 5%, we will be meeting via Zoom for testing until further notice. If you have not already met to read with Mrs. Bush or I, we will be rescheduling your testing date. We will contact you for a Zoom appointment for your child to read with us this week. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
