Halloween News

Good evening,

I hope you are all enjoying your weekend!  Just some quick reminders:

  • Students may wear costumes to school tomorrow – no weapons, masks or fake blood please.
  • We will have a small party at the end of the day.  Parents are welcome to come visit.  🙂  Due to limited space and safety of all, no younger siblings will be allowed.  Parents, please check in at the office and come to our room at 2:25 p.m.
  • If you signed up to send a paper product or treat, please send it by 2:25 p.m.  Thank you!

Have a Happy & Safe Halloween!

Disability Sensitivity/ Awareness Lessons

Today we had our first 15 minute monthly lesson from the special education staff.  In an effort to educate our Snow students about the disabilities they may observe, we will be having monthly lessons about various disabilities.  We also want to teach sensitivity so that we are including our friends who have disabilities and understanding their actions.  October is ADHD Awareness month and this month’s lesson focused on ADHD Awareness.  Students learned about this disability and were educated why students may act different from them.  When we understand, we can better work together.    You may hear your child talking about a famous person who had ADHD or what it looks like.

Celebration Today

We’ve been working hard with following directions and making good choices.  The students have been doing an EXCELLENT job!!!

Today we celebrated with oreos and a dance party!  Wow, some of my students have some great dance moves! 🙂

Reading Homework

Good afternoon,

Please be sure that your child is reading each evening.  15-20 minutes is just enough time to sharpen reading skills.  Students do not have to read all of the books that I put in their book bags.  They may also read books from home, library books and/or go on Myon.com.

Please be sure to sign your child’s reading log each evening.  Book bags are due on Fridays.

Thank you for your support at home.

Pumpkin Raffle

Raffle tickets for the Make A Wish Pumpkin Fundraiser are available in classrooms or the art room starting Wednesday, October 26.  Each ticket is a quarter.  Please remember that this is a raffle, there will only be one winner per pumpkin, but everyone that buys tickets wins by helping donate to the Michigan Chapter of the Make A Wish Foundation!  Last day for ticket sales is Monday, October 31, in the morning!!!  Pumpkins are on display in the lobby.  Winning tickets will be pulled at lunch with the pumpkins going home at the end of the day!  Thanks for helping out a very worthy cause!

Then we will be open Fri. morning for last-minute shoppers from 8:30 to 11am.

1st Grade Field Trip Tomorrow

Dear 1st Grade Parents,

Our field trip is tomorrow.  Please dress for the weather.  It will probably be a good idea to pack an umbrella and wear waterproof shoes or boots.  Please send a lunch with a disposable drink.  Lunch bags should be labeled with student names on them.

Chaperones, please meet in our classroom shortly after the bell.  I will give you a list of students who you will be watching for the day.  Maps will be available.  You may choose to carpool with other parents or follow the bus.  Siblings are not allowed.  Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedules to join us!

Thank you for your cooperation,

First Grade Teachers
